Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted June 21, 2011 I'm surprised it took him this long. He should have just signed in Edmonton as a FA a few years back.
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted June 21, 2011 Apparently, none of this is true anyways... Ryan Smyth denies he’s asked to be traded back to Oilers (per Edmonton Journal) ...and yet, Dean Lombardi has admitted to having talks with Edmonton. I think it's more of a case of Smyth trying to pour water on this in case he has to stay in L.A.

BigWillieStyle 662 Report post Posted June 21, 2011 Must have had one too many headshots. I can't see how any man would want to leave the home of sun, fun, fake boobs, and porn starlets, and move back to a place where the daily temperature is measured in degrees Kelvin. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 Trade to get Smyth back, sign Comrie as a UFA, and keep Vandermeer... Run this lineup on opening night: Smyth/Comrie/Brule Strudwick/Vandermeer Dubnyk As for the potential trade...maybe Horcoff, Whitney, and a 2nd/3rd pick for Smyth, Stoll, and Johnson? Stoll would give them a solid center who is very good on faceoffs to offset Horcoff. Johnson provides a younger, more durable core defenseman than Whitney, and Johnson also is signed to a long deal. akustyk 84 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 I think it'd be great from him and for Oilers if this move takes place. guy's been a class act all his career and could be invaluable as mentor for all those younsters in Oilers system.
13dangledangle 965 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 I think this a great idea, Smyth would really help there young guns with some savvy veteranness(?) and I know he'd have a great welcome home. Those of you saying he left for money is bogus, Lowe had a lot of players wanting money, Pisani, Staios, Pronger, Horcoff, Hemsky, Roloson and of course Smyth. Lowe neglected to even talk about it with him until it was too late and was shipped to the Islanders. Im sure there is more to the story but to say Lowe dropped the ball on Smyth goes without saying, Lowe was a ****** and showed it time and time again. 1 lil Wing's fan reacted to this

The Secret 304 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 Smyttie is and always be an Oiler just as Stevie is and always will be a Red Wing and in my opinion Robitaille was always King! Doesn't surprise me he wants to go home, it is where he belongs.
