redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 So...time is running out to get Eaves and/ or Miller re-signed. Haven't heard anything about negotiations and to be honest, i'm getting a little nervous. all I have heard is that they have been offered "take it or leave it" contracts. redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Appearing to be the latter :/ they know they can get better contracts if kopecky can get 3M and they will get more playing time somewhere else.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 they know they can get better contracts if kopecky can get 3M and they will get more playing time somewhere else. This is exactly why I was not a fan of the cap rising.
martyrme19 73 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Seriously though, let teams overspend now only to deadlock themselves for the years following immidiately after. We did the same thing right after the new CBA. We were left sitting pretty with our contracts while other teams were gasping for air. Remember, every overspent million dollar in a 6 year contract is just another million dollars working in our favor. Am I the only one that is liking Holland even more in the midst of this offseason? Dude is as cool as a cucumber.
redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Buccigross John Buccigross The Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to terms with forward Arron Asham on a one-year contract,. The deal is worth $775,000.

Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 The more all of this Wisniewski/Ehrhoff drama unwinds, the less opposed I am to the idea of Babchuk/White/Greene. They've shown themselves capable of putting up some respectable numbers, and will demand a decent chunk less because they're not the marquee names. And depending on what happens with Barker, that could be a decent option too. All of those seem to be more up Holland's alley, and much more likely to happen. These guys have the potential to come in, and look like a huge steal after they put up 35-40 points.

Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 i think there have been mentions about the pens trying to get him and kennedy signed. Kennedy wasn't sent a qualifying offer, making him a UFA on Friday. Maybe he will re-sign with them once free agency opens? Various sources reporting he wants to stay there, and Lemieux wants him back.

egroen 384 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 I'm really surprised so many teams are giving up draft picks for a few days negotiating rights when it so rarely works out. Quite a bit this year.

Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Per Jon Rimer's Twitter: Detroit Red Wings News: No deal with Wings and Patrick Eaves, & looks like he'll be testing the open market tomorrow. Hope it's not true and he signs a late deal... for the right cap hit of course. I like the guy. 1 LidsFan reacted to this

Hope it's not true and he signs a late deal... for the right cap hit of course. I like the guy. I knew this was going to happen, all the quotes about Eaves have led me to believe he's going to sign elsewhere. Very upsetting, one of my favourite players, our best PK'er (IMO), he's a pretty reasonable loss. Don't go Patty. 2 WizardOfOz30 and LidsFan reacted to this
xtrememachine1 795 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Really like Patrick Eaves, but he could get more money and a bigger role elsewhere.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 That sucks. I hadn't heard anything about him yet until now. I thought he liked his role on the team, but I guess he could get bigger money somewhere else playing on a second line or something. That loss is going to hurt, definitely dents our PK units and hard working role player stash. 1 LidsFan reacted to this
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Chuck Kobasew maybe? If we lose Eaves, he might be a decent option. Some offensive potential and good PK'er. Could do worse. Not exactly happy with his salary last season though, hopefully he signs for less. Makes you realise how good a deal we had Eaves/Miller on, steals both of them. SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 That might mean that Miller will be back for good, as he had expressed it during the season. Possibly more playing time for him. I'd have to think, if we lose Eaves, that we will get a forward who is responsible defensively, but can also put up some points... Chuck Kobasew Marco Sturm Jamie Langunbrunner Joel Ward Scottie Upshall Vernon Fiddler Maxime Talbot Sean Bergenheim Those are just a few that I noticed as FA (salary from high to low last year). dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 TSN reports: The St. Louis Blues have re-signed restricted free agent forward T.J. Oshie to a one-year, $2.35-million contract. That seems cheap for him. A 24 year old that can put up 45-50+ points when healthy can usually command at least $3M if not more.
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Agreed, very good deal for STL. And they signed Berglund for 2 years, $4.5mil a few months back too, so they've got some good deals, admittedly only short term, but still.

Yak19 303 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 I'd give Souray a chance if we can get him dirt cheap and as long as we pickup Greene or Babchuk also.
