P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted August 2, 2011 Brent Burns extended 5 years. They offered him almost $6 million a year for five years before he had played a single game for them. Quite a hurry they were in.

e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted August 2, 2011 It's also almost the last name of a very famous Brit who wants his MTV. It's also almost the last name of a lesser known Brit who was in New Order. Really it was just a spelling mistake.
Jusek 437 Report post Posted August 3, 2011 And, to nobody's surprise, Nik Zherdev has signed with Atlant Mytishchi of the #KHL. Looks like WPG wasn't really interested #flyers #nhl https://twitter.com/#!/slavamalamud/status/98731310062911488

Guest Heaten Report post Posted August 3, 2011 Sharks sign Colin White. Not sure who he is but I guess he wasn't good enough for the Devils since they just bought him out... but Sharks fans seem happy about it. Sharks have too many dmen now. They might be moving some bodies...
e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted August 3, 2011 Sharks sign Colin White. Not sure who he is but I guess he wasn't good enough for the Devils since they just bought him out... but Sharks fans seem happy about it. Sharks have too many dmen now. They might be moving some bodies... He's been with the Devils since they won their last cup. (read: aging at 34) More of a physical defensive minded defenseman who's lost a bit of snarl with age due to injury. (Serious facial injury back in 2007-08) Not much of a point producer. The Sharks are only sitting with 8 defensemen. Braun is still on an EL contract and may still be eligible to be sent down, but I dunno.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted August 4, 2011 Owen Nolan and Todd Fedoruk sign professional tryout contracts with Vancouver. They're still looking to fill a hole or two in the bottom 6.

Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted August 5, 2011 Stephane Veilleux signs one year, two-way contract with New Jersey. Patrick O'Sullivan signs one-year, two-way contract with Phoenix. Freddy Meyer to the SEL. Rob Niedermayer to Switzerland. Sergei Shirokov and Anssi Salmela to the KHL. Jesse Joensuu to the SEL? Thought he'd get some ice time on Long Island this year. Extremely minor news. But news, nonetheless I suppose. Holy crap, the Islanders did something smart! Garth Snow must be on vacation. Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted August 6, 2011 Like Detroit maybe? The rumor was Vancouver, although it seems not with Nolan and Fedoruk in the mix.
Hockey Convert 55 Report post Posted August 7, 2011 The rumor was Vancouver, although it seems not with Nolan and Fedoruk in the mix. I saw that reported somewhere, and was sad. Now that it seems not to be true, I rejoice slightly in the tiny possibility that, maybe it COULD be Detroit... Oh, don't get my hopes up.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted August 8, 2011 Winchester could be an interesting move, and his contracts tend cheap... hmmm. If he wants to come on a two-way contract, sure. But generally he's about 1/10th the player some people here tout him as.
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted August 9, 2011 (edited) If he wants to come on a two-way contract, sure. But generally he's about 1/10th the player some people here tout him as. People tout him as a big body, great forechecker, good fighter and a guy that's scored 10+ goals twice in his career, despite being a 4th liner. That seems like a dead on description of Winchester. I don't see what you're complaining about. Edited August 9, 2011 by GMRwings1983

GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted August 9, 2011 Why'd you just accuse me of complaining? I guess you weren't really complaining, but even so, your statement was off the mark. Nobody here is overhyping him. Certainly not by 10 times. 1 Motown4013 reacted to this
