Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 How long does Montador last in Chicago before they either bury him in the minors or trade him? As long as it would take Wade Belak to be sent to the minors here.

Shaman 713 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 He's a wise man, i'm sure he knows. I don't know, you have to be a bit naive to accept more than you're worth when its coming from Chicago. Seems they have a track record.

Seems they have a track record. Hope the best for Montador, but i'm not sure after seeing all the wheeling and dealing Chicago has done, how he can trust the Hawks braintrust on this one. He will be dealt before his contract is up, and you can quote me on that.

Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Jamie McGinn and Frazer McLaren re-sign with San Jose. This, of course, after the Sharks announced Scott Nichol and Jamal Mayers would not be brought back next year.

Hockey13Playa 240 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Eh I don't think he is anything special. Over payment to a team I dislike and a player I don't want! So hey this news makes me happy. Never was a fan of him, so way to go Chi-town!
Diluvian04 11 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Holland is gonna sign jovonovski I can just feel it. There is no talk about him at all from other teams. I'm very nervous about our team going forward. I guess we will see tomorrow. 1 greenrebellion reacted to this
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Well, they got their overpaid defenseman from the Sabres. Next season they get to overpay Shaonne Morrison to replace John Scott. And the year after, it'll be Regher or Leopold overpaid to replace Nick Leddy.
Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted June 30, 2011 It's at least a million per year too much for him right now... Over four years, I still think it's an overpayment. Maybe not as much tho.
Wings4Life19 150 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 my guess it holland tries to trade, not offer sheet, for bogosian(sp?), and he goes after white, kaberle(sp?), and jovo

Frank the Tank 31 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) It's at least a million per year too much for him right now... Over four years, I still think it's an overpayment. Maybe not as much tho. You have got to be joking. The year is 2011, there is a $64.3M cap, and the dearth of available free agents has produced an enormous seller's market. Montador had the highest +/- on the Sabres in 2010-11, is a cumulative +39 since the lockout (playing on mediocre teams at best) , and has scored 20+ points each of the last 4 seasons. If you like advanced stats he led all defensemen on the Sabres in GVT, GVT/game, and was 2nd in point share. His corsi numbers were almost identical to Bieksa's in 2011. To suggest that he is overpaid by "at least a million" is patently absurd given Montador's performance and current market conditions.
