stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 (edited) So much potential and I just think bad situations for this kid, I'd like to see the Wings take a flier on this kid if there's any chance he'll sign a 2 way deal... if not, I'm not comfortable with giving him a roster spot(barring waivers obviously), but given the right circumstances, why the hell not? at bare minimum, come August if he still has no home, extend a training camp invite to him... EDIT - Sections bolded for those that seem to overlook them completely when replying. Weren't people really high on him at the trade deadline? And weren't the Wings interested in him already?
LeftWinger 4,951 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 I wouldn't mind, heck he played 72 games and scored 38 points, he's 24 and has a lot of potential. He will make over a million less than Hudler, yet he puts up similar numbers, plus he is younger he would be well worth the contract. Nice find!
Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 Bergfors is like Hudler with less drive and less defense. I'll let that sink in for a moment. That said, wouldn't mind giving his offense a try for the right price. He definitely needs some good coaching, though.

Well since most of us would rather have a bag of pucks than Hudler....for $1M or so, he wouldn't be too bad, but I have a feeling that Mursak or Emmerton would be just as valuable to this team... Hiei 192 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 Bergfors had an EXCELLENT season in NJ his first year out. Then got traded to the southeast.
redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 12 hits in 72 games? No thanks, just another perimeter floater and we have enough of those.
Wingzman91 134 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 He'll likely end up on the NYI and score a ton of goals, FL has a problem, its the guy stuffing the team with Chicago's aging trash.
Red Wings Addict 787 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 He's a right handed shot. Maybe he'd learn a few things from guys like Zetterberg and Datsyuk but even after all that I feel like he wouldn't be worth it or good enough.

egroen 384 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 Training camp tryout is as far as I would go. I honestly think this guy would get trashed on more than Hudler from Red Wings fans. Certainly would prefer Mursak and Eaves over him and possibly even Emmerton/ Miller/Draper. Similar offensive scoring to Hudler's worst year and even less hustle does not exactly excite me. Oh, and just to state the obvious - Florida does not even want him as an RFA. Florida. RFA. Not every player is Eaves and able to make big turnaround. mmamolo 287 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 He's a decent player and will find a home. I just would rather it not be here. I'd be much more interested in Anthony Stewart. He scored 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 points in 80 games last season with the Thrashers. He's 6'3", 230 lbs, shoots right and his -10 rating for last season is deceiving as he was a -5 in 4 games as the Thrashers crumbled.
