Ehrhoff's rights traded to NYI, then traded to Buffalo

There's probably a thread that's suitable for this a post instead of a new topic, but it'll be posted no doubt.

Christian Ehrhoff has walked away from Vancouver's contract offer and will likely be headed to free agency, per Bob McKenzie. They are now shopping his rights.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Unless there's a new development, looks as though Christian Ehrhoff is headed to UFA on July 1. VAN reportedly offered him Bieksa $$$.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: It's believed VAN is now asking other NHL teams if they have interest in acquiring Ehrhoff's negotiating rights prior to July 1.

hudler isn't going to be enough is he........... what would you give for ehrhoff's rights?

just for his rights? No way... you don't trade a roster player for rights, regardless how you feel about him...

I'm not crazy about Ehrhoff in the first place...

Despite the poor playoff performance Ehrhoff has been a solid defenseman for the canucks, I feel like he would make quite an impact in detroit. I like him more than bieksa and I feel like he's a safer pickup then Wiz. If the guy is willing to sign for less than 5 mil then I say get it done. If we could pull Wiz and Ehrhoff this offseason for around 8-10 mil our defense would be rock solid! Forget the top 6 forward, fill up front from within the org and sign these two.

Question of the day:

Ehrhoff or Wizzy?

We can only get one.

We have enough cap space to get both, sign two Filppula-level 2nd liners and have space left over, provided we trade Hudler.

See: http://www.sportscraze.net/blogs/Alex/Red_Wings_need_to_bolster_the_second_line_defense_5/ <- And that's with a $0.4M smaller cap than we actually have.

-13 on a Cup finalist. No thank you.

Sedins were a combined -20... A lot of those minuses were from s***ty goaltending by Luongo.

Erhoff was a +19 in the regular season. And a career +74 player in the regular season and a career +1 in the playoffs.

I'd take Ehrhoff for 5.5mil a season since he has a track record of being very healthy, but I'd rather have Wiz at 5mil.

I would go as far as to say I'd rather have Wisnieksi at even money... Ehrhoff is a very good defenseman, but I don't think he fills the needs we have as much as Wiz does...

With that said, if Holland can't land Wiz, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he signs a couple mid-tier players and makes his real splash via trade...

doubtful on wiz or erhoff... Just not seeing winds pull through..sad thing other teams would prolly offer more than wrongs can afford..columbus is looking for d also..more money than wings to throw around...

Apart from the plus/minus, he made ill timed turnovers very Ericsson like. He's not physical, and isn't the faster guy around. I'd rather have Wiz, but if we do get Erhoff for a decent price maybe he could fit in better here. But I wasn't impressed with his playoff performance.

Wings have like 16M with only a few roster spots to fill. They have plenty of money to throw around...

don't make me regret defending you on your first post and welcoming you... you sound like a fool here, both in context and composition...
