dirtydangles 1,328 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 (edited) Not really, they're only 10 million from the floor right now, and that's still with 1 defenseman to sign, and 5 forwards, two of which are Ladd and Wheeler whom will command a decent amount of money. THIS. and i can see bogo asking for more than he's worth. but for us, if we can get him long term, it may be overpayment at first, but as he is only 20, its likely that that contract would be a bargain as he develops. Smith,Bogo for the next 10-15 years and kronner and stewie for the next 5-7 years sounds good to me. ericsson can either bring it or leave at this point. Ladd is captain, i see him getting a 5mill or so cap hit. wheeler i can see around 3-4mill. Edited July 2, 2011 by dirtydangles

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 You'd think someone would take him for a 4th round pick. I mean, we'd be willing to give up that low of a pick to anyone who'd take him, right?
Crashnburnluder 385 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 You'd think someone would take him for a 4th round pick. I mean, we'd be willing to give up that low of a pick to anyone who'd take him, right? Holland won't. He stated already that he is seeking a trade partner but he isn't just going to give him away. Especially with how our team is sitting right noe Include him in a trade to get Bogo, Yandle, or Green (caps won't take Hudler Soo get green and then just keep Hudler or find another partner)
Red Crazy 201 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 Hudler should be waived before the start of the season if nobody wants him via trade. Somebody would claim him wouldn't they? We have the cap room to eat some salary this year.
Crashnburnluder 385 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 (edited) Double post Why would we waive a guy that has played in the NHL and put up 40 + points in the past and had one bad year. Were not cap strapped and he is a UFA next season. That doesn't make sense. Im not a Hudler slappie but y just give him away. That is probably the last thing we should do with him. I will admit waiving him gives us nothing. It has been suggested that he is a bit of a dressing room distraction and rather then him cause trouble for the rest of the team maybe he should go. This could go two ways. He has something to prove and comes out with an awesome season or feels that he is unwanted and becomes a huge pain in the butt. All Ive ever heard is everyone loves him in the locker room.
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 For some reason, I was thinking we had too many forwards. Maybe I was still mentally counting Draper, or maybe I was assuming we'd pick one up. At any rate, Hudler brings our total to 14 (counting Mursak and Emmerton) so I guess we could keep him rather than giving him up for nothing.
DatsyukianDekes 2,428 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 I guess we can look to a positive. Its a contract year, and hopefully last year was just him getting used to the speed of the NHL again. If he can come back and put up 40-50 points I will definitely be satisfied.

WizardOfOz30 1,886 Report post Posted July 3, 2011 If we have to ride out this year and he actually improves it's a bonus for us. But we better not offer him anything next summer, let him go somewhere else.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted July 3, 2011 I don't get the Hudler hate. I'm all for trading him and everything. But it's not like Hudler sucked for us. He was a non-factor 90% of the time, but that's better than being a negative factor. He can only go up.

Not nearly so much hate as that he's now quite expendable, did not live up to his paycheck, and getting rid of him for someone else can only make us better. Granted, there is the chance that he could be reading this thread, getting good and ornery and planning to come back with a vengeance, but I think he's probably doused in vodka and cavorting with ladies of the evening. LeftWinger 4,961 Report post Posted July 3, 2011 So IF Holland dumps Hudler, of the remaining RFA/UFA's, who would YOU want to take his place? (I know Holland is not usually the kind to offer RFA's a sheet, but there are a couple nice one's left out there (not named Stamkos (since the odds of that happening are laughable!)) i wouldn't mind seeing Holland offer some sheets ( That sounds ***...) to Ladd, Cogliano or Brouwer...
