ewoodson 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=NHL&id=2248&line=137250&spln=1 i know the predators topic was discussed before, but maybe the red wings should wait out the coming week, and then make a serious play for sergei kostitsyn when/if he becomes a free agent on july 8th. then sign a backup goalie, trade hudler (for anything you can get), and call it a successful off-season. i think kostitsyn would look pretty good on a line with filppula or datsyuk (and a shooter of course). by the numbers: kostitsyn was 1st on the predators in goals (and points) this past season. and he was a mere 11th in total shots. 23 goals on 93 shots is a ridiculous 24.7% accuracy. sure he needs to shoot more, but still that's impressive. datsyuk was the most accurate shooter on the red wings (23 goals also), but took 137 shots to do it. zetterberg had 24 goals, but took 306 shots to get there (a pretty low percentage of 7.8%). i'm not at all saying kostitsyn's on the level with datsyuk or zetterberg. just sayin', he' s good, he's young (24), he's got a good shot, and he could really help the wings. and we've got the money to get him! get it done holland!! Agalloch93 28 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 I don't think the NHLPA will win the case so this is probably irrelevant, but I would absolutely love to have Kostitysyn, if not for the simple fact he won't score one armed backhand goals against us anymore. X13WINGS13X 25 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 i would love it. he would fit perfectly here. not bad defensively and one of the leagues best shot percentages at 24.7%. natural goal scorer and would pair really well with pav and filp IMO.

Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 Would rather spend the money on a top end defensiveman Who? Unless we trade someone we just signed, our D is finalized. If he becomes a UFA expect $4.5+ to get this guy. Okay.
ewoodson 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 right now the wings are 7 million under the cap (if we get rid of hudler we've got more even more room to work with). we've got the money to get it done. now we just have to hope the NHLPA wins their case.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 If he becomes a UFA expect $4.5+ to get this guy. That's affordable for the Wings right now, and almost exactly what they could spend and still have a little money left for a backup and space at the trade deadline. Red Wings Addict 787 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 why? what problems? Probably something to do with this. Things change though so I don't know where he's at in regards to those issues. Don't know too much about him. ASSETS: Has slick moves, shiftiness and loads of creativity with the puck. Can play either wing position and is equally good finishing plays or setting up mates. Also displays a feisty attitude.FLAWS: Struggles without the puck on his stick and in the defensive zone. Has questionable work ethic and attitude, which hurts his overall potential at the highest level. CAREER POTENTIAL: Skilled winger with a questionable attitude. Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 Probably something to do with this. Things change though so I don't know where he's at in regards to those issues. Don't know too much about him. I wasn't refering to work ethic, more abouts drugs and some other stuff which are not really nice... They were intersepted by police in Montreal. There is a reason WHY Montreal traded him last season... http://www.google.ca/#hl=fr&q=sergei+kostitsyn+arrested&oq=sergei+kostitsyn+arrested&aq=f&aqi=&aql=undefined&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=4303l8047l0l9l9l0l7l0l0l173l309l0.2l2&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=f8998f2d7efc7964&biw=1366&bih=673 Habs' Hamrlik, Kostitsyn bros. linked to drug trafficking; centennial season become (Updated, 5:30 p.m., Feb. 20.) The Habs' centennial season has become open season; it's just matter of how big the window. The rumours are flying fast and furious. Having two Russian players, Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn, being accused of being "mobbed up" is the burning flame that draws the media moths. It goes without saying. The Canadiens, as Pierre LeBrun noted today, are followed in a way unlike that no other team in the NHL, maybe all of North American sports ("You don't trade priests," as Guy Lafleur once said). At this point, little is known other than a pair of young jocks were hanging out an alleged criminal. It can't be shrugged off, but nothing happens in a vacuum. Montréal is the organized crime capital of Canada. It has been a town where a character such as Pasquale Mangiola can draw a lot of water. Nothing which has happened since Nov. 15, 1976 has done anything to work against that. It's a more rough-hewn place than anywhere else in Canada, but it's also more alive, more vital than other cities whose names start T and rhyme with oronto. It has its good and its bad. It's impossible to imagine someone from Toronto having the same meteoric rise as Georges St. Pierre and being worshiped the way GSP is in his home city and province. He embodies that flinty Montréal toughness. It has a rough edge, though, personified more or less by bad dudes such as Mangiola. It's not really surprising it would eventually get mixed up with the mystigue of Les Canadiens. (Alex Kovalev is back at practice, but that is more a hockey decision, since the Habs really cannot trade him.) Original post, overnight on Feb. 20 It appears that the NHL is about to get hit with one its biggest scandals in history. La Presse is reporting that three Habs, Roman Hamrlik and brothers Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn will named in connection to a network of drug trafficking. Although it's unclear whether they will be arrested, police need to speak to the players. All three have been taped and filmed associating with a man arrested for gang activities earlier this month. http://neatesager.blogspot.com/2009/02/breaking-hamrlik-kostitsyn-arrested-for.html
X13WINGS13X 25 Report post Posted July 3, 2011 well that to me sounds like a positive. add the toughness that a 31 year old AHLer cant bring(see Mike Commodore). all kidding aside, ive watched him play quite a bit and he seems to be that natural shot that would fit in well with our forwards and would play great on the datsyuk's wing with filppula 1 greenrebellion reacted to this
