Only have to worry about one d pairing there now, and if Lebda dresses, that's a guaranteed goal or two for, per game...Welp. Nashville just got much easier to play against.

Lebda's contract comes off the books next year, so actually, it's more. This could be over half of what Suter re-signs for. Pretty significant, actually. Looks like Suter won't be available after all.
I like how you assume Suter wants to re-sign in the first place. If this trade proves anything it's that Nashville simply doesn't have the cap flexibility to realistically ever be a favorite for the Stanley Cup, the only time they did was in 2006-2007 and ever since then all they want to do is drop as much payroll as possible. I could definitely see Suter moving on. Or he stays put, who cares? They still just got destroyed in this trade. You don't trade a young second pairing d-man for nothing.

My sister thought I had texted "Lebda for Franzen trade" and freaked out.

Maybe he married Taylor Swift or something.

I would love to see the reaction of this place if Holland were to get absolutely wasted and that were to happen, God forbid.

it'd be all rofling until it was confirmed and then you'd see heads rolling down your street.

guarantee he'll get his only goal against us.
that crap always seems to happen.

Wonder if he'll pull a Leino and suddenly turn good.

Leino wasnt good while he was here. He made Kopecky look like an excellent choice to keep as UFA while he was in the D. Different team, different style, different opportunity yielded crazy results. Kind of felt the same way as Quincy.
Back on topic, Bart Lebda was a known quantity that Holland decided not to keep. Especially since TO was tossing Finger money at him. I still feel a large portion of the blame for the outrageous contracts we have seen over the past 2 years can be directly derived from TO signing Finger and the following year Lebda.

That's a very, very good trade for Toronto (for once). Especially if Lombardi's healthy next season.
They basically dump Lebda and get a huge upgrade in Franson.
Nashville simply got robbed here. Were they too cheap to pay Lombardi on IR or what? And in return, the Preds got Slaney, who looks like he might be a career minor-leaguer.
Doesn't make any sense. If good trade are this easy, Kenny should give Poile a call.
A Howard/Rinne Tandem for Hudler and a 4rth looks great to me;)

The Predators have a ton of depth on defense. Wouldn't be surprised if they waived Lebda.
And, it sounds like they have done just that.
