If it didn't matter anymore, these types of guys wouldn't be getting offers at all.

How many of those new Hawks players won the Cup for them in 2010? Nuff said.

That has nothing to do with what I was talking about, good try though.

This thread is about the Hawks acquisition of more physical players. I never said they were gonna be any better than last year, they're just getting meaner.

Meaner. Yawn. I bet the Wings are scared s***less of the Hawks now. I mean they're just so mean you know what I mean? Is this where you throw out a list of washed up has beens who have toughness but can't crack an NHL line-up? I can't wait.

If you have nothing to contribute to the thread, don't post. You do nothing but troll every thread on this forum. And no, now that I know you can't wait for the list, i'm gonna hold off on posting it. :)

How did I "lose" the argument? This isn't a competition, it's a discussion. Quite juvenile, young chap.

I just want a toughness list. So does everyone else. Guys Holland should acquire who have toughness so we can have a fighting chance against the almighty Hawks.

What's wrong? "Lose" the "argument", now you've got nothing to say? :hehe:

I already won the argument when you began ripping me off. I would have left it but since you asked...your lists are so predictable and lame. Washed up NHL has beens and minor leaguers who cannot crack current NHL line-ups. Do you have anything else to add regarding the Red Wings other than this? Please tell me you do. I have faith in ya.

Aw, the juvenile "No, I won the argument!" comeback. Every player on my fabulously concocted list played on NHL teams last year, so I don't know where you're getting minor leaguers from, maybe its for the sake of "Winning" the "argument"? I'm quite positive this thread is about the Hawks, is It not? Sound the title out, I have faith in ya.

Very predictable from the loser of the argument.

1. Calls poster he is arguing with a troll becauee he lacks the knowledge to counter argue.

2. Rips off the poster because he lacks the proper knowledge to argue.

Oh you're still ripping me off. Thanks for proving my point guy.

Whoa, you seem to be moving away from the "argument" at hand. Didn't all of the players on my list play on NHL teams last year? And did you sound out the title of the thread? This is a discussion about the Hawks, not necessarily the Wings. Why are you ignoring my counter "arguments" that you claim I don't have. Seems you have no logical "argument" but to point out I called you a troll, hm?

Well lets see...there is no said list. Where is it? I mean your latest one that is. I see you have convenient amnesia. My points are clearly listed above in this thread. I don't see any tabgible facts in your flawed argument other than the Hawks are MEANER. How are they meaner? Because you say they are? Did Troy Brouwer not play with any toughness? Did Brian Campbell not dish out any bodychecks last season? Please tell me how the Hawks are MEANER? And if they are, why does this matter? You told me that you didn't say the Hawks were better, just meaner. However you did tell me that if it didn't matter then these guys would not be signed. So obviously, to you, it DOES matter or else you would not have mentioned it. Plus calling somone a troll? I mean how lame is that? Keep the discussion on topic please. Your name calling is indeed juvenile. Still waiting for this magical list of toughness you keep referencing...

There's no said list? You seemed to have seen it somewhere, otherwise you wouldn't have made any comments about it, correct? In the RFA/UFA signings thread, like a page back. What other "argument" is there other than the Hawks are meaner? I'm not saying anything else, i'm saying they're meaner, that's it. I don't know where you're getting this other "argument" from. I never said they didn't have physical players last year, did I? They will be meaner this year with the acquisitions of Dan Carcillo, Steve Montador, Sean O'Donnell, and Jamal Mayers, along with the losses of Brian Campbell and Troy Brouwer. It matters because THATS WHAT THE TITLE OF THE THREAD IS. You said the acquisition of physical players would matter if this were the year 1996. If teams felt that physicality didn't matter in hockey anymore, guys like Zenon Konopka wouldn't get contract offers. This thread is about the Hawks acquiring more physical players. You're the one who brought up the Championship team, which has nothing to do with Chicago's offseason acquisitions. I'm sorry, did I hurt your feelings? You seem to be dwelling on that. Keep the discussion on topic, THIS THREAD IS ABOUT THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS ACQUIRING PHYSICAL PLAYERS, therefore I am keeping this on topic.

Still no list. I have seen many lists from you but none in this thread. I didn't realize this is the RFA/UFA signings thread. You told me it is the HAWKS ARE MEANER thread. Which is it? I said the Hawks had physical players last year, you didn't. I mentioned Brouwer and Campbell as examples. Carcillo will get around 5 minutes a night. So that is 5 minutes of MEANNESS. Unless he gets in a fight and gets 5 minutes or a game misconduct penalty. I guess Al Sabotka better watch out for Carcillo's MEANESS as he exits the Joe. In 1996 the game was different and there was more of a premium put on toughness. Guys like Derian Hatcher and Adam Foote were valuable because they both played a very physical game and got away with much more than which is allowed now. Pronger falls into this equation as well. Pronger has adapted his game and can still play. With the rules crackdown after the lockout, Hatcher couldn't play in the league anymore. Foote was nowhere near as effective as he once was either. The Championship Hawks team of 2010 has everything to do with it. They won the Cup. They were eliminated in the first round last season. They lost even more players from the team which won the Cup since then (like Campell and Brouwer). So now they sign a few tough guys who barely play and this is supposed to make them tougher? Carcillo plays 5 minutes a night. O'Donnell is old and washed up. He will be on the 3rd pair. So we will give him 10-12 minutes a night. Mayers? He takes dumb penalties and has the hockey IQ of Tyson Nash. He will be on the 4th line. 5 minutes for him. The only guy who is valuable whom the Hawks acquired is Montador. Before July 1st, I agreed with other posters who said he would be a good fit on the Wings. He's a good dman who is tough but can also play the game. So to me they lost Campbell and Brouwer (2 regulars in the line-up) and added Carcillo, O'Donnell, Montador and Mayers. 3 washed up has beens and a valuable dman. How are they meaner again? You didn't hurt my feelings but I am sure enjoying you having your balloon popped. Thanks for the free entertainment.

There is definitely a list. You asked me where the list is and I told you. Of course it isn't in this thread. I made it a few days ago. You implied that physicality did not matter in today's NHL, which is far from true. If physicality had no place in today's NHL, how would guys like John Scott and George Parros have contracts? Of course Hatcher couldn't play after the lockout, he was built for the pre-lockout NHL. The 2010 Championship team has nothing to do with this thread. Again, this thread is about the Hawks acquiring physical players, not championship teams of the past. They're meaner because Brouwer and Campbell are gone, and Carcillo, O'Donnell, Mayers, and Montador are in. They will be more physical, not saying they will be a better overall team. I'm not popping my balloon. I'm just fine. Thanks for checking :)

Haha. You seem to like putting words in my mouth. I never said that physicality doesn't matter in today's NHL. I said guys like Carcillo, O'Donnell and Mayers don't. The guys you always put on your lists can't seem to crack NHL rosters. If any of them played last year, why are they not signed yet? And maybe some of them will be. But even then, will they make any kind of impact? Likely not. I would be more worried about the Hawks if they got Andrew Ladd back. A real player who can impact a game with his offense and toughness. A guy who elevates his game in the playoffs. Even John Madden would be a better impact than Carcillo, Mayers and O'Donnell. O'Donnell used to be a valuable guy on a 3rd pair. But how old is he? 38? 39? The game is fast and he can't keep up anymore. Signing guys who barely play does not make a team tougher. It makes them weaker because they cannot match up depth wise with other teams. I will take Helm, Eaves, Abdelkader and Miller over your TOUGH Hawks players any day. The Hawks will not be more physical than last year. Brouwer played in their top 6 and Campbell was a top 4 dman. He logged a ton of minutes in even strength, short handed and power play. Montador is not going to replace that. He is a 3rd pair dman. Carcillo is not going to replace Brouwer. Mayers is not going to replace kopecky. Wow I can't believe I gave Kopecky a compliment. That is how useless Mayers is. What will he do? Scare teams with his stupid eyebrows? O'Donnell has a Cup ring but he should be retired. Good for him to find a team still willing to give him a paycheck. They still have Jake Scott. Heck of a player he is. How many minutes did he play last year? Not much. But hey he's tough!

Well considering Mayers was on the team that has beat the wings out 2 years in a row now, Carcillo and O'Donnel have been to the cup finals more recently than any redwings and Montador is a very solid player who is tough and can put up 30 points from the backend.

I mean sure you might be one of those guys that has no clue and thinks physicality and meanness have no effect in the playoffs, but I'm not.

Was Dallas Drake a washed up has been? Yup, but look what he did come playoff time.

I mean O'Donnell won the Cup with the 2007 Ducks. Which is before the Wings won the Cup in 2008. Your point is? Carcillo and O'Donnell were the reason the Flyers got to the Cup Final in 2010? See putting words in people's mouths is fun.

Pretty much everyone was calling him useless here until the playoffs rolled around, he had 6 points all regular season and 40 pims. Thats a pretty useless stat line. Anyone who says they didnt tihnk he was useless in the reg season is a liar.

Youre saying all these guys are useless that Chicago is signing, meanwhile they have all been played on other teams that have been doing better than the wings. Call them useless all you want but just because Detroit doesnt sign them doesnt mean more successful teams dont different seasons

No they didn't. You called him that. No one ever called Dallas Drake useless. Other than you. That guy was pure hustle and heart. Which is why Holland signed him. He had offers from 3 other teams for more money and chose to come to Detroit for a shot at winning a Cup before he retired. You are a big liar for suggesting otherwise. Drake's value was never measured in stats. Anyone who has watched hockey knows that. These Hawks guys I mention were not integral parts of their teams. The guys I compared to on the Wings are. In that they play valuable minutes for their team. Did the 2008 and 2009 SCF's not happen? In your mind they must not have.
