Kidding, I think he should wear whatever number he wants to, and the whole #64 thing, while funny, was a bit overblown.
"For my game, I don't need to score the goal," Konstantinov once explained. "I need someone to start thinking about me and forgetting about scoring goals."

Then you'll have to drink more or sober up.
My money on the board pledge:
$1 for each goal scored by a player after whom I have named a hamster.
An additional $5 for each hat trick scored by a player after whom I have named a hamster.
An additional $10 if any of the above goals is the GWG goal that gives us the series win.
An additional $50 if it is the GWG that wins us the Cup.
$5 for a SO by Jimmy.
Hamsters' names (current players in RED): Henrik Pavel Tomas Nicklas Dominik
Niklas Matthieu Daniel Robert
Johan Andreas Valtteri Jonathan
Andrew Patrick Ian Todd
And introducing: Jordin Damien Gustav James
TOTAL SO FAR: $27

Edit: Looks like White is already #18.....that's weird, seeing how he's worn #7 with the Leafs, #3 with the Flames, #7 with the Canes, and #9 with the Sharks.

I'd like to see Ian White wear #3, Conks #29, and Commodore either #22 or #64.

Maybe 9 is his preferred number and he chose to double it?

Maybe. Although it will look odd seeing someone wear #18 not named Maltby on the Wings.

And I swear it took me a couple seasons not to think Datsyuk was Slava Kozlov, especially given their somewhat similar style of play. Seeing Chelios wear #24 in the Winged Wheel was odd too. I kept wanting him to beat the snot out of people.

*shrug* Took it from the website. According to hockey-reference.com Valterri wore 41 in 2006.

I think you get used to new players in old numbers the longer you watch the team. I started watching around the time when #30 was Greg Stefan and #5 was Darren Veitch.
And I swear it took me a couple seasons not to think Datsyuk was Slava Kozlov, especially given their somewhat similar style of play. Seeing Chelios wear #24 in the Winged Wheel was odd too. I kept wanting him to beat the snot out of people.
The Datsyuk/Kozlov #13 through me off for a while too. They even kind of skated the same way.
