Bold predictions for the year!

Recommended Posts

Here is a topic for bragging rights, make your bold predictions here that you can later refer back to when/if you're right and claim your bragging rights, or eat your crow!

Mine:

- White will have a career year, putting up over 40pts and being very effective on the PP

- Ericsson will steady his play and post another plus year, as well as play more physical

- Franzen will stay healthy all year and have a 40+ goal season

- Hudler will actually bounce back decently and will post a 50+ point season

- Mursak will unseat Miller and will end up an everyday player by the end of the season, Miller being a healthy scratch most nights

and... GO!

Hudler will have another flat season as he is aware he was trade bait and no one wanted him.

Commodore will become the new Leberp.

White will prove to be a positive addition to our team.

Holmstrom is going to tear it up as it is most likely his last season.

Lidstrom will have an awesome year echoing the last year sentiments.

Our defense will look completely different without a herpderp leading the coaching.

:hehe:

Calling that for White is not bold. It's logical analysis.

Ericsson will steady his play and play more physical, but he'll still be on the third pairing. He might even get himself played out of the lineup if Kindl really breaks out.

Awfully bold to predict Franzen to have *another* 40+ year, when his career high is 34. Or awfully stupid.

Hudler having a 50+ season may be considered bold but is certainly not unreasonable.

Mursak will likely take Miller's spot by December.

Bold eh?

1. Smith will play 30+ games for whatever reason (injuries, superior play, etc.)

2. Mursak scores 15

3. The Wings will have 3 times more 5 min fighting majors this year compared to last.

4. Holland sits on his 6M in cap space all year and does nothing major at the deadline.

5. The Wings finish top 5 in GAA

6. The Wings stay miraculously healthy and win the West.

7. Babcock finally wins the Jack Adams award.

8. I finally get to the Joe

Sorry, he was *on pace for* 40, the year he had 34... why don't you make some of your own instead of swinging from my coat-tails champ?

Or should I just make yours for you - "Hudler will score 164 pts and reach 50 goals, all while saving children from burning buildings and preventing world war"

If you don't want responses, don't post. I'd call you champ, but you have yet to earn it.

keep swinging, everyone on this board knows you're a joke... I'm not turning this thread into a pissing contest, so I'll leave it at that, champ.

Definitely bold! He's deserved it the last 2 years, but I still see the committee voting for coaches who don't deserve it over him, just because he's in Detroit...

Guys, guys, guys...this is supposed to be a nice, friendly place.

I'm going to say that we're going to be a lot healthier this season.

Nick and Homer, if they do hang them up after this year, are going to go out in style.

Pasha is finally going to hit the 100-point plateau.

My predictions...

- Pavel leads the team in fighting majors

- The Mule throws out his back due to a particularly nasty sneezing fit & misses half the season

- Huds gets caught in another prostitute scandal in December & decides to retire from hockey to join a monastery

- Despite Hudler's retirement, Eva still predicts a 70+ pt 2011-2012 season for him & wonders why he's not getting time in the top 6

- Hank's beard becomes even more manly in an effort to make up for the loss of Drapes' Chuck Norris playoff beard

- Mike Modano re-signs with the Wings to become a flight attendant on RedWingsIII

- Brett Ledba signs a big contract to play in the KHL only to find that even in Russia, his name is still pronounced "pylon"

Have I ever claimed Hudler achieved a full-season statistical mark (such as 40 goals) he never actually reached?

Anyone?

Thought so.

I was going to start a thread similar to this, but with a whole different twist.

As for the spirit of this thread, I can see any of those things as potentially happening. I'm a little worried about Franzen's health, so I don't know about him scoring 40 goals. Hudler scoring 50 points will depend on how much icetime he gets and with which linemates.

JOHN, PLAY THE FIGHT RIFF!

Bold, you say?

- During our annual February Injury Fest, Cory Emmerton ends up playing goalie in a blowout in Minnesota. He scores on the empty net, garnering his only goal of the season.

BAZINGA!

And now for my predictions...

- Darren Helm scores 20 goals and 45 points on the 3rd line and gets nomiated for the Selke.

- Datsyuk gets 101 points with 30+ goals.

- Z scores 40 goals and tops 90 pts.

- Howard controls rebounds this year and his GAA drops under 2.00 and he gets nominated for the Vezina and wins the Jennings.

- Lids wins the Norris with a landslide vote and retires on top with the Conn Smythe and Ol' Stanley.

- Hudler gets waived to make room for Tatar.

- Franzen learns how to hustle for 60 mins and scores 40 goals

- Flip gets 20g, 40a playing with franzen and Bertuzzi all season.

- Commodore grows a playoff afro and dies it Wings Red.

- Kronwall steps up and replaces Rafalski no prob.

- Homer plays on the 4th line all year and 1st PP.

- Nyquist wins MVP in the AHL and Smith takes Dman honours. Both take the jump for the following year after departures of Homer and ....cringing...Lids...I'm assuming the Wings win the Cup.

Some may be bold, but if the Wings stay healthy this year, i think they look good. And White will fit perfectly with the Wings. 40 pts for sure.

Datsyuk and Zetterberg will team together and cure cancer

Everyone here knows the cure for cancer is Z's beard hair mixed with some of Dat's stick tape, applied liberally to the area. This also is an ancient Chinese cure for impotence.

Bold predictions:

Hudler scores 52 pts all from 3rd line minutes (plus a couple from his time in the box served for bench minors).

Filpulla (and 1st and 4th) is traded at the deadline for Praise, Z and D for C goes catatonic.

Zetterberg scores 40 goals again, and nears 100 points.

Dats scores 99 again, justifies this by setting assists records in the playoffs. Tells the media 'I take regular season off, stay rested for cup' then looks at Z awkwardly making sure he said it right.

Lidstrom puts up 50+ points, is +20 and wins another Norris.

Good Topic!

Ill say:

+ Lids has another amazing season and adds another Norris

+ Smith fights his way into a roster spot

+ Top 5 in NHL GAA

+ Helm scores 20 goals this year

+ Dats nets 100 Points

+ Draper will teach the up and coming Wings how to grow a playoff beard

- Hudler will continue to suck and will then be traded for next to nothing

- Injuries

- Big E will show exactly why everyone at LGW knows he is over payed

- MIGHT be Lids last season..... :scared:

the new 4th line of Eaves Helm and Mursak become the new SpeedLine and terrorise the league.

Commo becomes an instant cult figure by putting Cindy thru the plexi in the 1st pre-season game.

Hommer see's more time in the press box than he thought he would.

Pasha stays healthy and finally hits the 100pt mark for the regular season.

Rex spends most of the year on the 3rd line but becomes a PP specialist and tops 50pts.
