stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted September 7, 2011 So as of 30 minutes ago, Russian news was reporting Salei wasn't on board. Please god let that be accurate. No one deserves to die this way but please let these be the only ones. My sincerest condolences to all those affected. I'm feeling the same way... this in no way devalues the lives of the others, but I'm still holding onto some GLIMMER of hope for a silver lining in a VERY dark cloud, Salei JUST had a baby, no child deserves to lose their father before their life has really even begun... This story has my stomach in knots, I can't even comprehend it right now...
kylee 727 Report post Posted September 7, 2011 going back and forth about Rusty being dead then alive is really screwing with my mind. Regardless this is just awful, but i hope he's alive...somewhere.

stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted September 7, 2011 going back and forth about Rusty being dead then alive is really screwing with my mind. Regardless this is just awful, but i hope he's alive...somewhere. Same here, I already feel absolutely HORRIBLE about this whole thing, but this up and down is making it worse... I am crossing all parts of my body that Rusty is ok, even though the signs are not positive...
Heinz 1 Report post Posted September 7, 2011 In Germany it has been confirmed that Robert Dietrich died in the accident. This is just horrible and sad. So many players we all knew. 3 victims with a Red Wings background. I am shocked and sad. However, there is still hope for Ruslan. The passenger list posted here does not include him and there have been earlier reports that he was waiting for the team in Minsk. In particular with consideration to his young family, it would be at leas ta small comfort if his live was saved. Anyways, my prayers are with all victims and their families. stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted September 7, 2011 Same. This is an offseason no one will forget. and in the worst way... I'd take another work stoppage in a heartbeat to have this off-season go away... I want the off-season of '05 to go back to the worst off-season (in the hockey sense) of my life... haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted September 7, 2011 Ruslan Salei confirmed dead by ESPN. there are no words. stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted September 7, 2011 Ruslan Salei confirmed dead by ESPN. there are no words. ESPN has been known to jump the gun and isn't always reliable on hockey... all signs point to Rusty being gone, but I am going to hold onto hope until someone like TSN reports it as fact... 1 Vladifan reacted to this
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted September 7, 2011 Ruslan Salei confirmed dead by ESPN. there are no words. As others have said, the back and forth on the reporting if he was or wasn't on the plane is making this worse. Hoping he was with his family and was not on the flight. 1 Vladifan reacted to this
