LeftWinger 4,916 Report post Posted September 15, 2011 My link Wait til someone comes in there trying to pawn/sell their autographed McCarty jersey from 1997 and he sues them for making money off his name without him getting royalties. Better yet, let them have an un-autographed item and when they don't get offered enough for it, they could ask him to autograph it to make it worth more... 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) I'm glad. With all of the difficulties we hear about that enforcers face when starting/continuing their post-hockey life, it's good to hear about the ones that find something that interests them. Stu became a lawyer. Mac works a pawn shop. Whatever gives their lives meaning and keeps them active and happy. Better than Grinder. Although, I did misread that as "Hardcore Porn" and hoped there'd be a video. Edited September 15, 2011 by 55fan

stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted September 15, 2011 weird... just, weird... I personally like him on 97.1 and think he should become a permanent third member of the mid-day show, I think he would offset Karsch and Anderson well...

Kira 451 Report post Posted September 16, 2011 (edited) Good Lord... My hubby and I walked in there one day for s***s and giggles...killing time between doctor's appointments at Detroit VA. We thought we dodged the cameras. Alas, we didn't...they caught us for about 5 seconds. I was so ticked off about it. I still am. Barrie 900 Report post Posted September 16, 2011 I've seen this show advertised, never watched it. I'm going to have to find out when it's on and watch it!
Red Wings Addict 787 Report post Posted September 17, 2011 Well, I'm pretty sure the show is partially fake. Just like all the other bad shows that have spread through what was known as CourtTV and is now a TruTV joke of a channel in my honest personal preference. Ugh. I used to love that channel. At least Mac will get to work on his acting skills a little bit.
MulesWillFly93 199 Report post Posted September 17, 2011 Well, he'll definitely liven up the joint! Which is why I'm bummed that he won't be back on the VS. intermission report...he was a nice change of pace from Keith Jones (god, what a lump on a log). Plus, on the other end of the scale, his brand of nuttiness is way more endearing than Roenick's. I've never seen the show, so I'll at least give it a shot, knowing he's going to be on there. I've watched that other show about the shop in Las Vegas a couple of times, and it's okay, but I've heard this one is less...tame, so we'll see. Glad to see he's keeping busy, anyway. Not a bad gig - getting paid just to be yourself all day. ...Gotta say, I would've been a little more excited about the "video," too.

Uncle Danny 155 Report post Posted September 18, 2011 Not to rain on parades or anything, but I read the following to mean he's working there, but won't be on the show? Please correct me if I'm wrong: Detroit-based American Jewelry and Loan, made famous by the truTV series "Hardcore Pawn," has hired McCarty. He came to the shop with a friend and now actually works there, apart from the show.

sean 19 Report post Posted September 21, 2011 pardon my suspicions about a former red wing great, but dude seems to have lost his way after his career, as many athletes have. a number of the opportunities he's been offered post-hockey don't really feel in-step with his ambitions, and it seems at times he's selling out for a bit of extra cash. eh poor guy, sometimes it's hard for athletes to adjust to retirement... I know what you mean. As much as I respect what McCarty has done for the organization, I will never purchase a picture of Lemieux turtling that is signed by both Lemieux and McCarty. What a joke that co-signing thing was.
