"Quist" is correct, but "Ny" is not like in "Nike", but almost like in "new".

I've seen highlights with that last name being pronounced "nee qwist" (Swedish version?) but Nyquist himself pronounces it "nye qwist" as FSD does. So as far as he goes, I stick with how he pronounces it himself.

Oh, I didn't know that. Must be because he's lived in U.S. for few years and he's been called that. Not unusual at all actually, to make the pronouncing easier for locals.

Probably futile thinking too. It's like, even if I pronounced it natively, they're still gonna f*** the pronunciation up anyways (Americans tend to just pronounce it their own way anyhow) so oh well, nye qwist it is! :lol:

I guess you're right. It bugs me that it bugs me. I can't but shake my head for the thought that one the all time best players is called Teemu Salami.

They're just skating in circles. Regular season, please.
