You said they wouldn't trade their franchise player, yet Boston did so he could win a Cup. You said Doan doesn't like Detroit so he'd never agree to come here, yet we all know the Chelios video and well, where he ended up coming to and winning 2 Cups...Doan would come here in a minute to win a Cup and Phoenix would trade him for younger players, especially since Doan would probably be a rental and end up back in Phoenix before he retires. I never said trade Hudler for Doan. I simply said, when Mursak comes back, someone has got to go and I don't think Holland wants to lose anyone for nothing via the waiver. Yeah, because Boston wasn't going to make the playoffs that year, and Colorado paid through their nose for him. On top of that it was a class move, to get him a cup, I doubt whatever conglomeration that owns the yotes will send him Detroit for Hudler+++ unless its a great prospect and a first rounder, and Doan ain't worth that much. On top of all this next year is a huge flux year for Detroit, a lot of core players need contracts, Lidstrom will more than likely be gone, and anything that goes to Phoenix out of the farm for that old rental will only make Holland's job this off season that much harder. If Doan has another year like last year, and Hudler plays like he did from the end of Dec 2010 to the end of February 2011 (26 points in 28 games), he could bring back Doan. He is a good player and can be a great weapon come playoff time! He had to adjust his game last year and was showing good signs towards the end of the year i thought! I have always liked Hudler! Some of you fans are so spoiled! Be patient and give players a break! Our young talent takes time and patience because we have been the best team in hockey for close to 20 YEARS!!! So yea our Draft picks like Hudler and Filpulla may not be Yzerman or Gretzky like you all hoped.. but they sure do a lot of darn good and unnoticed things on this team! That's the 2nd time you've mentioned trading for Penner and it's hilarious because at the trade deadline in NHL 12, I traded Hudler and a 3rd for him Honestly, I've been happy with Hudler so far. He doesn't look like absolute s*** and that's the biggest positive of his game because that's what he was last year. A top-1 defenseman is more like it. So you trade Hudler and Kindl or Ericsson for a guy like that? Okay, who do you think fills that role AND is available via trade. Suter, maybe? Yandle, possibly? Or perhaps we could be really lucky and get Enstrom? I don't see any of Nashville, Phoenix, or Winnipeg giving up those guys for Hudler and Kindl/Ericsson, unless the defenseman we trade is playing solid top-four quality this season. Outside of the really , really good guys like Suter or Parise I'll list some guys that could be worth targetting. Doan has been mentioned but he would be a perfect fit in the top 6 as a power forward. Tuomo Ruutu - legit top 6 forward this team needs. Trade for him, let him take the second line cetner duties and put pav and Z together. He gives a big body that plays physical as well. I would be acstatic if Detroit could get him. His top production levels are no better than what Hudler has put up or what Filppula is expected to put up, and he did it playing much better time and opportunity. Hudler is younger, much more durable, knows the system, and has developed chemistry with the guys on the team. Gaustad? We're going to wait for Hudler's trade value to increase so we can trade him for a fourth line faceoff specialist? If Holland wanted a fourth line faceoff specialist, Ryan Johnson would be on the team. Moen and Chimera are equally ridiculous suggestions. It would hardly take a productive top-six forward to get those guys, although I know many here wouldn't trade them for anything less than that. Hemsky is highly skilled but very fragile. He also has had attitude issues, so it's unlikely at best. Umberger. Now we finally have a realistic suggestion. Except he's three years older and plays for a division rival. On the Wings, he realistically would fit in as a third liner, with Homer or Bert moving into Hudler's vacated top-six spot. Which Kostitsyn are you talking about? My post was top4 with top2 potential. I couldn't even speculate who they would target because they can see talent before most anyone else will. I'm sure Red Wings brass have a good idea who can advance to the next star level. Just throwing some names around to entertain you, perhaps a team would like to unload or beef up anther spot on their roster by adding a legit scoring line forward and a cheap(er) young dman with positive upside (i.e. Kindl/Ericsson). Bogosian Jack Johnson Bouwmeester Pitkanen Again, those names are obvious, I'm sure Holland and company can sniff out legit top2 potential dmen that we probably rarely heard of or notice.
