Wingnut in WA 86 Report post Posted October 8, 2011 Has anyone else notiched this? I was watching the game last night and was kinda shocked that they took out the old spinny goal light! They have replaced it with a square looking one that blinks really randomly. It wasn't neccasary a bad thing I just was kinda shocked, those spinny goal lights have been around since prob 95. Anyone else notice this? What do you guys think of the new goal lights??
RedBengals 27 Report post Posted October 8, 2011 Did they really? That sucks, it was my favorite goal light. It's the light I always think of when I think of goal lights, that big red "alarm" style spinning thing. That's a bummer, I just hope the new one isn't lame or anything when I make it to the Joe this year.
FifeHockeyNut 57 Report post Posted October 8, 2011 I believe the old ones got so hot they melted the casing, that's why they got replaced by these energy efficient ones. There's pictures on the twitter feed, would post link but genuinely don't know how to lol.

Cheers for posting it, knew I'd seen it. The photo of the melted lamp is unbelievable.
RedBengals 27 Report post Posted October 8, 2011 So why can't we get an energy efficient one that is the exact same? Those lights were part of the classic Joe feel.

Hiei 192 Report post Posted October 8, 2011 250W Halo is about what is used to keep food heated on those restaurant windows. Wings scored too much, burned the piss out of it. However, with a GLASS CASING, it wouldn't have melted. Besides, Energy efficiency and savings are always good. I'm not exactly a treehugger, but if we can figure out a way to do the same with less or more with the current amount, then why the hell not?
