What about an Ovechtrick?

I would rather see a Dats-a-trick.

With all this ridiculous downtime the team has, I'd like to see them working on PPs and face-offs, since they're both rather on the mediocre side to start the season.

They said at the start of the game that they have been working more on special teams and power plays. Really not much they can do other than keep up the effort. I believe that the power play will come around.

1-0 when a player on our team fights. :hehe:

Gotta pay more attention to the home run pass. Way too many breakaway chances on Howard. He was brilliant, though.

Yes, because every team has two Art Ross winners in their lineup.

Its pretty much proven last year by Boston that if you take Kesler out (in their case defensively) and put the pressure on the twins, that they disappear.

Kesler doesn't play on their line, so it really isn't going to make that much of a difference.

Plus we aren't playing in the Stanley Cup Finals. Remember there is a huge difference between the two.

Wings have 16 different players with at least one point and 10 different goal scorers.

Kindl is +5 and White and Ericsson are +4.

Cleary leads the team with 13 shots but has no goals.

ill take balanced scoring over 2-3 top scorers all day every day

That's why they need him... it takes the defensive pressure off the twins, whereas, he hes out the Twins get to see a lot more pressure and don't seem to have the same scoring touch.

The Wings are fortunate to be 3-0 considering that they are 0-16 on the PP after this game. Good game though. Kindle continues to impress me.

I laughed when Mickey was hoping for a PP goal with 30 seconds left "for the percentage." They aren't executing now, but I'm not worried yet.

3rd line of Abdelkader-Helm-Bertuzzi looked solid again. Good to see Abby go after Yapierre. I wasn't awful impressed with the officiating tonight. Both calls against Bertuzzi were horses***. The tripping call Ballard got for the hipcheck on Zetterberg was bogus, as well. The powerplay continued to slump, but at least we're playing decent at even strength. Pavs looked lively out there. Threw a solid hit or two. Howard played solid. We're looking good early on this season.

Hate that I didn't get to watch, but I was watching the Yotes beat the Preds in person. Not a good home opener. Lol!!

The tribute video for Wade and Lokomotiv were very well done. They put up a huge picture of Brad.

Just watched the replay on the no goal at the end of 2nd period. What do you think Sedin and Lidstrom were yacking about while waiting for the official call ... where's a good place for Swedish meatballs in Detroit other than IKEA? :P

oh silly nucks fans

It was a completely different defense tonight. The Red Wings had no "A" quality chances until they scored. The defense kept many shots to the outside and defended the front of the net - they didn't do a thing for Luongo yesterday.

P.S - I'll eat my hat if Detroit really had 37 shots on goal. They must be counting dump ins and shots going wide.

Wings are notorious for getting a lot of shots on net. They shoot from anywhere and are able to get their shots through.

And Detroit stat takers are notorious for adding mysterious shots to the home team.

Just like Dallas with hits.

We still gave up wayyy too many chances. The game could have easily been a lopsided win for the Nucks'. I know we shut them out, but a large part was due to JHowww and the Nucks' inability to finish, we need tot ighten up that D. All in all though, great win, and let's do it again tomorrow!!!!

Ugh... Quit making that s*** more popular than it is... The tragic thing is I just did what I told you not to... I did it again... And again... ... ... It's pure evil. It really is.

Honestly, I'm completely fine with the lack of powerplay production. Obviously, they need to turn it around - and they will - but I'm thrilled to see them win without it, because it won't always be working.

Congrats on the win last night guys. I thought Howard was the difference - although the Canucks did have difficulty finishing on shots that should have maybe gone in. Still, Howard was great and deserved the shutout.

The difference might also have been that the Canucks had like 3 decent shots on goal in the last 40 minutes of the game.

Wings need to get the PP going, it looked decent at times, terrible at others. Didn't the Bruins win the cup though with some remarkably horrible PP%? Maybe this is the "new NHL".

I had the game on but was also kinda busy on my laptop. I'll have to give you the benefit of the doubt with that. I do know the Canucks took considerably more penalties than the Wings in the second and third periods though. I also know the Wings powerplay didn't exactly click last night either, but it's also tough to generate offense when you're a man down. And of course, that is the fault of the Canucks. Just saying. Hell, it's early in the season.
