Doc Holliday 1,888 Report post Posted October 14, 2011 Was there a noticable difference before and after? Yup Are you the type of person who would deny this effect of a hockey fight to all ends? Yup Does it feel great to have proof that the wings players also agree it can have a spark, contrary to some people's ridiculous thoughts on here? Definitely Like I said, get off your podium already, and just appreciate the damn fight. Also, I have never said that fights don't spark a team. I have simply said it isn't as big of a factor as you would like to make it appear. You are notorious for pegging anyone who doesn't see fighting the way you do as an "anti fighter". Just pump the brakes. 5 Zeowingsfan, GoWings1905, redwings4life and 2 others reacted to this

I'm notorious for thinking fighting is more than just a side show for goons and anyone who thinks that I will call an anti fighter til the day I die because they dont realize the impact it can have on a game and team. 2 Hockeymom1960 and Hatcher#2 reacted to this

I don't think I have ever said that. You have me confused with someone else. I think players can get sparked up by a fight. On the other hand, so can the other team. That is why I don't put AS MUCH stock into the benefits of fighting as you do. There is a big gray area on which team gets more of the jump from it, and I don't think there is anything wrong with having one opinion or the other. My issue is creating strawmen simply to prop up one of the opinions. Personally, if there was a player who I wanted to have his clock cleaned last night, it was Ballard. The guy was grabbing people, acting tough towards our smallest players, and in general acting like a ******. 1 GoWings1905 reacted to this

newfy 695 Report post Posted October 14, 2011 I noticed that too. And I agree. Hamhuis being a close second. The nucks d is always like that. Bieksa was running around as soon as Datsyuk laid a hit on him, Ballard trying to fight Hudler like come on? And at one point after getting his ass kicked Lapierre gave Lidstrom a little shot but did nothing once Bertuzzi grabbed him. I get why the nucks are the most hated team, they dont have tough guys, but play tough. Though the wings arent that much of a team, at least guy like Bert arent grabbing the Jiri Hudlers of other teams

Especially with Shanahan throwing out suspensions out like candy.
KrazyGangsta 79 Report post Posted October 14, 2011 Lapierre IMO is the most annoying player in the league, considering all he does is YAP YAP YAP and barely drop the gloves. I'm surprised he actually dropped the gloves & it wasn't Abdelkader that took that off for him too.
GMRwings1983 8,789 Report post Posted October 14, 2011 Sorry...Not much of a fight if you ask me...1 guy turtles, and the other is punching the linesman's leg...Nothing to look at here folks - move along. If we're lucky the next time he'll get a 2 min roughing pen, and our "enforcer" the pp can take it from there. Dude, it's the biggest Wings fight victory since Lija emasculated Boll. How can you downplay its importance? We may have to wait years to see that happen again. 2 Hatcher#2 and Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
Kira 451 Report post Posted October 15, 2011 My housemate is a die hard Bruins fan, and she said the Boston fans want to thank Abby for giving it to Lapierre. I thought he carried himself very well. Maybe those boxing lessons did pay off!

Yup Does it feel great to have proof that the wings players also agree it can have a spark, contrary to some people's ridiculous thoughts on here? Definitely The fight had no impact. If it had some sort of impact, it wouldn't have taken a full period to score a goal against a Nucks' team that is visually scuffling after such a emasculating fight. Why can't you just appreciate Lappy turtling? Edited October 15, 2011 by Konnan511 1 Zeowingsfan reacted to this

Why can't you just appreciate Lappy turtling? I see what you're trying to say, but IMO you're comment is too declarative. Because the Wings did not score immediately after does not mean it had no effect. I do agree that see Abby punch him was good enough in its own right though. 1 haroldsnepsts reacted to this

We may have to wait years to see that happen again. I'm guessing your Lilja cheerleading is done mostly tongue-in-cheek, but if this is a memorable Wings fight, it only shows the sad state of affairs for the Red Wings when it comes to fighting. That fight was pretty much a draw and Lilja utilizes his go-to move, which is to wrestle the guy to the ice before he got his ass kicked. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7lOida9zcA&feature=player_embedded#!
