A short video by Fraser as to his thoughts for the season. He sounds really optimistic.

GRAND RAPIDS -- Even though the Grand Rapids Griffins dropped their season opener at Rockford 3-2 on Saturday night, fourth-year coach Curt Fraser had nothing but positive things to say about his team’s performance.

He loved the way the Griffins competed in a fast-paced game, thought the power play was strong and thought every player found a way to contribute. The Griffins got contributions from several of their younger players in the opener.

Second-year forward Willie Coetzee scored his first career goal and rookie forward Landon Ferraro notched his first assist. Rookie forwards Louis-Marc Aubry, Mitch Callahan and Trevor Parkes also made strong pro debuts.

We've got a good group of young, talented forwards, I hope they all stick.

The Griffins looked great tonight. Dare to say better than they looked all of last year. Much faster, generating much more opportunities, and especially against a team that played them really hard last season.

The Griffins handled the Marlies pretty thoroughly tonight with the exception of portions of the 1st and after they pulled their goalie in the 3rd, but it never felt like the Marlies were actually in it.

callahan vs finger

http://www.nhlfightclub.com/videos/23788/jeff-finger-vs-mitchell-callahan-oct-14-2011-toronto-marlies-vs-grand-rapids-griffins-ahl.html

like WorkingOvertime said, not much of a fight but finger lands a good uppercut. slight edge finger.

Im going with a draw on this one, the uppercut by finger missed and clipped his helmet, nothing landed by either. He seemed a little bit more settled in this one though, wasn't throwing for the KO, he'll get better with every fight as he gets used to GR. Thanks again rw19.
