2 good Canadian lads going at it

And to think 15 plus years ago Probert, Kocur, McSorely, etc etc would've handed this guy his lunch.

McGrattan's a good scrapper. The only guys that would fight him are Colton Orr, George Parros, Cam Janssen,Trevor Gillies, Steve MacIntyre, Darcy Hordichuk, Eric Boulton, and Jody Shelley. That makes 8. 15 years ago he would've had many more guys willing to go with him. Probert, Kocur, McSorley, Grimson, Odgers, Berube, Domi, Worrell, Belak, Cummins, Cairns, Laraque, and Brashear are just guys off the top of my head. "Goons" are truly a rare breed im the NHL today. Nashville plays Phoenix tonight. I'd be shocked if Bissonnette even looks at him.

I was at that game! :D

Loved it when Brian started blowing kisses to the crowd. He smiled at me during warm-ups. Sweet guy.

I met McGrattan after a Syracuse Crunch game last year, and spoke to him for a few moments. At the time, he hadn't played a regular season game in the NHL the whole year. When I asked him if he thought he could land a job in the NHL next year, he told me there's always GMs that want tough guys, but its a matter of if the guy can skate a regular shift or not. He's my favorite NHLer, and I'm real glad he's found a place back in the NHL. He's a real easy-going guy. Got a picture with him.

I'd love to meet him. I was just sitting there, watching both teams warm up. He was already smiling at me when I looked up. I glanced around me like "Huh? Me?" and smiled at him. His grin got HUGE. He made me a fan right then and there.

Plus, watching him go with Parros didn't hurt. Fight happened right in front of my seats. :D

I'm so jealous. Did you get any pictures or videos of it? That must've been memorable :)

I know this isn't nhl but I couldn't resist,

first game back from suspension and our boy dirty harry absolutely opens a can of whoop ass on ben wilson.

Here's a serious related question: do you guys think Callahan will get a legitimate shot with the Wings? Actually, I guess a better way to state it is, what will he have to do? From my perspective, and I'm sure people on here will disagree, it seems like Holland really doesn't like physical, scrapper type players. So I'm wondering; if Callahan establishes himself as a fantastic 4th line type player on the Griffins, would that be enough to get him a look on the Wings roster? Or alternatively, how many goals do you think he'd have to put up to show he can be "well rounded" enough to get a shot?

I wish I knew the answer. I think the Wings could use a little of the attitude Callahan seems to bring, but it remains to be seen how he can adapt to the pro level. My suspicion is that Babcock would like having more physical players, but that Holland doesn't value it as much. I'm not claiming to know that for sure, but it's certainly the sense I get from watching the way the team has shaped up the last few years.

Good to see Martin standing up for Tavares, even if Wilson just hugged him. This is the type of fight I love to see (when punches are thrown).

Funny thing is, back when I had season tickets, these guys were both teammates defending Stamkos together on the sting. Its weird to see them fighting eachother after it seems like yesterday they were both in a huge brawl with Oshawa after Stamme got speared.

Callahan will get a shot. Holland has slowly been trying to toughen this team up a bit, you can see it in the way his drafting has changed the last few years, he just doesn't want a guy who can do nothing but fight, and if a player can fight and play they are hard to find. You basically have to develop them yourself.

Callahan is a great fighter and will be one of, if not the toughest pound for pound guy after a few years in the league, but hes also a player.

He gets in on the forecheck fast and is constantly a threat for a big hit, is always a willing fighter and is an amazing agitator. The physical side of the game he has down pat.

His hands are solid and he can definitely give and receive a pass. He wouldnt have made the world junior team if he couldnt. He can also skate, if he was a bad skater he wouldnt be such a good forecheck, threat for the big hit, or played in an international tourney like that.

All things considered, I've seen him play quite a bit and he'll be an NHL fourth liner for sure. He has the fighting ability to fight heavyweights while skating better than most of them. Hes probably going to be the wings Chris Neil or Mccarty.

Hes also a pretty damn good PKer.

Overall I wouldnt expect him to be a top liner or anything, but given the wings lack of grit and his combo of skill and tenacity you will see him in a wings sweater. He may evend evelop a bit of a scoring touch and become a member of Detroits next grindline

Abdelkader - Helm - Callahan has got me drooling lol

Thanks, that's good to know; I haven't had a chance to see the Griffins play this year. I guess now, we wait!
