Eric Staal

Eric Staal is off to an awful slow start to the season. He's scored just 11 points in 25 games so far this season, combined with a -17. Maybe a change of scenery is needed for him? Carolina is off to a less than impressive start, as well. Have to think the Hurricanes are going to make a move, especially if the team continues to fall in the standings. I wouldn't be surprised if Toronto actively went after him. I don't think we'll go after him, but I've always liked him and he is still young (27) and is a legit top 6 forward. In addition to Staal being on the trade block, look for Tuomo Ruutu, and Tomas Kaberle as well.

Eric Staal yes please. I thought of this when the leafs were playing the canes, he was invisible I didnt even noticd he was on the ice until the end of the first. He awesome thought, getting out of Carolina would be good for him, but I don't see it happening.

i dont see why he would be traded....hes the face of their franchise and normally you dont trade your franchise player unless you're Atlanta. Awful start yes, but Carolina just has seemed to dwell in mediocrity since they won their Cup. He needs players around him.

His -17 is dead last in the entire league (something like 725th place)...yikes. Most of that has to do with how bad the team has played so far though.

He's been terrible, and that has much to do with it also. He's matched up against the other team's top line, and when he's not producing and they are, his +/- is going to take a hit.

I think concussing his own brother has had a major impact on Eric this year.

That's the prevailing theory, and it seems an accurate one.

Anyway, I agree with those who have said that he'll never be moved. He's basically the face of the franchise.

let me help,

I live in Raleigh and like the hurricanes like I like an annoying kid brother. They're annoying but They're part of my family so I have to like them.

Eric Staal makes slow starts look like the flash. He really does do this every year just not this horrible bad. Every year around Jan he becomes "super eric" and makes the canes 10x the team they really are on paper.

What no one has said, is how much did putting his own bro on the shelf do to him. When Staal came back for the Rangers, he started to catch again.

I think this is a big part of it. He had to be distracted by worrying about if he ended his brother's career. His brother's return had to be a huge weight off his shoulders.
