DENVER -- Detroit Red Wings forward Valtteri Filppula won't return to Sunday's game against the Colorado Avalanche after sustaining a lower-body injury.

Filppula got tripped along the boards by David Jones. There was no penalty called.

No word yet on the extent of what appears to be a lower leg injury.

Please let him be okay! Anyone with an update post in here.

But the question is the severity of the cut. I'm sure they were just being safe, but you never know with how secretive teams are these days. If it is a deep cut he may be out for a bit. Hopefully it is just them being safe so he can be ready to go on Tuesday.

Detroit Red Wings forward Valtteri Filppula suffered a cut on his leg late in the first period Sunday."He got a cut on his leg above his skate,'' coach Mike Babcock said. "We sent him to have it looked at. We don't know if it's serious or not serious.''

That was my concern on Flips injury. Let's hope for the best.

There's no way it's as serious - Mo had an exposed body part, on a part of the body which has a LOT of tendons, the only equivilency on the leg, is the achiles, which is protected by the skate boot... the only real fear here, is the back of the knee, but other than that, hopefully it's just something that needs to be allowed to heal for a week or so, and he'll be right back...

Get well soon Flip!

Great news for the Wings- - A loss of Fil would have been really difficult to deal with because he has been playing so well and has helped Zetterberg play better as well.

Fantastic news, you can easily argue he has been our third best skater/player this season (behind Datsyuk and Lidstrom - Howard excluded) and losing him right now would be a blow...
