Blood Feud by Adrian Dater. He's a Colorado beat writer, but the book is amazing in its balance. Show the intensity of the Colorado-Detroit rivalry in all its behind-the-scenes glory.

But I second the "What It Means to Be a Red Wing" and "Good, the Bad and the Ugly." Great books.

Also, there are two books, one on Howe and one on Lindsay that are cool collector's books. They are called "9" and "7" respectively. I think they're mostly photographs.

I know this isnt a book, but the Wings championship documentary from 08 was an awesome video. Just saw it for the first time last week and loved it. Similar to 24/7 except not as in depth and no swearing.

Not a book, but I own this DVD and I think its a must have for a Red Wings fan. It has documentaries covering the 97,98, and 02 cup championships. It also has five complete games, ones that fans voted on as being the 5 greatest Red Wings games. I watch this during the summer to get my hockey fix while waiting for October :)

Agreed. Bought it for my Dad a few years back, it's excellent.

I second "Blood Feud", it's a great read... and I agree that Dater does a good job, and quite frankly many of the Avs don't come off looking too good in his treatment. For example, he points out that Roy is probably the only goalie in the NHL to have trashed a locker room because his team WON the game.

Love "Blood Feud". I try to read it on Turtle Day each year. The foreword is by Scotty Bowman.

"The Code" is an interesting read as well.

That's all I have to add to what's been said.

I'll second "What It Means to be a Red Wing"...it's beautiful. I sat on the floor in the bookstore and read Pasha's essay. It's very nice. I'll also give a thumbs up to the video package - I love it. Also, if you can find it, "48 Hours with the Red Wings" is a great book of photographs.
