Commodore

He played a really good game against the Blues tonight and was VERY physical I thought. I dont really see a difference between what he provides and what Kindl does to be honest.

I also found it weird how we have all been harping on guys like Ericcson and Abdelkader to toughen up out there, tonight they were all mixing it up and playing tough.

Commodore had a run taken at him, and ABdelkader went and gave Crombeen a shot and next thing you know gloves were on the ice ( refs jumped in).

It just seemed like this team was playing a bit tougher when this guy is out there, I know its a small sample size but when stepping up against a team like the Blues who I hate happens, I cant help but notice. I didnt catch the calgary game but read that he played solid as well and asked Jackman to drop the gloves a couple times as well. There was another time when Ericcson was giving someone a shot infront of Howard when he had it covered, and Commie cam right over and got in there. This team never swarms guys like that but Commie has the right mentality.Commodore in the lineup happened right after Jimmy was complaining about getting hit, I dont think its a secret why hes in there and it seems like having him will most likely lead to a more team tough mentality.

Once he gets into a couple more games itll be better to judge but he has looked good so far, glad to see hes taking his opportunity and going with it

Meh, he gets beat way too easily. I'd rather have Kindl in over him, but wouldn't mind he and E swapping games.

What has Kindl done this year really? He plays sheltered minutes and only even strength. DO you honestly think he would look better than Ericcson if he was eating up E's PK time? I sure dont

As for Commodore, he didnt get beat once tonight and is probably just starting to get back in game shape really after a solid preseason. I think theres no real difference between Kindl and Commodore just that Commodore is tougher to play against he had 3 or 4 pretty big hits tonights

I'd prefer the 3 of Ericsson, Kindl and Commodore consistently rotating until the top two really differentiate themselves before the playoffs. I'd like all these guys getting a fair amount of games in prep for the playoffs, where injuries are likely to happen.

...do you mean offensively? Because the rest of your entire post describes what Commodore brings to this team over Kindl.

If I remember correctly he was the main culprit on the Blues' 2-on-1 that ended with Jimmy's pad-stacking sliding save.

The Wings have given up TONS of odd-man rushes thus far, it's hard to be at fault when you are in the press box. I think that is something that is a team problem and really does need to be addressed.

I want to see the same thing.

None of these guys "deserve" to be in the lineup every night.

I think we have all seen by now that Ericsson will never be sitting in the press box, unless for injury reasons. Although sometimes I think he should, it is clear that the coaches will not sit him.

Kindl is a good skating, puck moving defenseman who needs to work on his D-zone play. He has been more physical this year which is a good sign. He has good size and this is only his 2nd year in the league. He still has a lot of room to grow.

Commodore has pretty much established his game as a hard hitting, defensive specialist with very little offensive abilities. He does fill a void in this Red Wings team, however he brings a much different skill set than Kindl.

Like someone previously mentioned, these are good problems to have

HE wasn't that physical at all. Kindl is regularly more physical in fact. He had a golden opportunity in the 3rd and shot it about 10 ft wide. What he needs to be doing is dropping the mitts and he hasn't been that great defensively. I don't know what you are seeing. And Datsyuk was the cog of the physical play last night, and no one else.

I know you have a hate on for E but really? Ericsson is a better defenseman than Kindl. He just is...even if you think he sucks. I think Commie adds a physical dimension to this team that we need and he is not afraid to stick up for anyone or get his nose dirty and so far, he has played as well as Kindl in the last few games.

I could be wrong, but I have this theory that Commodore playing with Ericsson adds a little stability to E's game. When he plays with Kindl, they both look like a couple of rookies out there, but with Commie out there, at least he's got some experience in the NHL, and Ericsson seems more confident in his game by having someone else with a little confidence playing with him. I like Kindl, but I wouldn't mind going with Commie for a while. I wish he would play up that aggressiveness a little, but we'll see what happens on Friday.

With out a doubt Commodore played his best game as a Wing. He hasn't had much playing time so far and hasn't played very well when he has gotten a chance until last night and that is probably do to the fact that he hasn't had an opportunity to play much and get used to playing the Wings game. I would love to see him play more if he is going to play like he did last night and improve on that play. To be honest I'm tired of watching Erickson play like crap and would love to see some one to improve enough to take his spot or at least push him into playing better.

What the hell game were you watching? I guess you see what you want to see because Commie in his limited ice time was throwing the body a lot. Datsyuk pops Jackman once under the chin and all of a sudden hes the cog of the physical play? He does well for himself physically, but if Datsyuk is this teams cog to being physical than something isnt right.

Kindl being more physical is a joke though, get your eyes checked

Commodore played very well... in fact better than big "E" last night.

He brings physical dimension that Detroit is missing big time (ask Howard about it).

Howard's comments are likely the reason Commie has been playing the past few games. Kindl has been fine, but he doesn't provide the same physical presence as Commie.

I think rotation E, Kindl, and Commodore makes the most sense, though it sure seems like there are no plans to rotate Ericsson. I like Kindl, and he can jump in and make a great play in the zone, but I feel like every game he has that one play that makes you cringe. And usually you can tell it's coming before it happens; you'll see him look to make a bad pass, you'll see him jump in on a bad pinch, etc.

For now I give him the benefit of the doubt since he's young, but I did the same thing with Ericsson when he started and he still makes boneheaded plays.
