Doggy 130 Report post Posted January 1, 2012 I just prefer to ignore the trolls and obvious misstatements of facts and just focus on the game. Seems like this could be the exact answer to your question from most LGW posters.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted January 1, 2012 Less good hockey talk, more trolls. Plus, there's only so much you can retread about a team that been mostly stagnant, roster wise, for years....there's just not much to talk about IMO. Honestly, this. The site is going through another phase low on good hockey talk, unfortunately. Add to that the cheerleaders who only want positive posts about the team and the trolls, and it's just not as interesting of a community here lately. 1 BigWillieStyle reacted to this
Barrie 900 Report post Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) Nothing against the Wings, but personally I've been more interested in the Tigers and Lions this year. For years the Wings were the #1 team in town, but things are changing in 2011 and 2012 with us Detroit fans also wanting a World Series and Super Bowl Championships to add to our 4 Stanley Cups. Go Wings, Tigers, and Lions! Pistons too, but they suck ! Edit: There was a time when the Wings had all the best athletes in the city, but now Detroit has Verlander, Cabrera, Stafford, Johnson, Suh, etc. to cheer for along with Lidstrom, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg. We did have Billups, Hamilton, Prince, and the Wallaces in the mid-2000's, but the Pistons are 4th in Detroit in popularity, and have been for decades. Add to that the cheerleaders who only want positive posts about the team and the trolls, and it's just not as interesting of a community here lately. It seem like a lot of the 'discussion' has taken the form of declaratory statements in both directions- i.e. the Wings will never beat Chicago in a playoff series, or this team cannot be beat when playing well. There also is the issue of a relatively stagnant roster. It is difficult to discuss the same lines, wanted players, etc. This applies more to the main board though. Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted January 1, 2012 Isn't a little silly to worry about the number of posts in a GDT? This is the first season in as many that I've been a fan, where I can watch every single game even though I live hundreds of miles from Detroit. So because of that, I'm watching the games, and making a few comments here and there during commercials and intermissions. Also, I watch the game in one browser, and use another browser for everything else. By the time I switch them, activate fast reply, type the comment, then hit post......52 other things have just happened that other people are talking about, and my comment looks weird and out of place. So I just don't bother.
