It's matchups like this, against vastly inferior teams, that terrify me. The Wings have a tendency of not coming out of the gate firing.

I wish Conklin would get a consecutive start, though.

But here's hoping for 7 points for Datsyuk and a hat trick for Franzen or Zetterberg.

I agree. If the Wings lose, it will likely come as a result of poor play. If the Wings win, it is expected.

It looks like Conklin is getting the nod- I'm excited. Howard has earned a rest and there are a lot of games in the coming weeks before the all-star break.

Ya I like the start with Conks. Coming off a nice performance last game itll be good for him to get the confidence building. I also like this start because now in the back of the players heads they wanna play good for him, instead of relying on Howie to win this by himself.

This motivation will prevent us from sucking tonight....hopefully.

I think people need to temper their expectations a bit. The Islanders are not the worst team in the league or some punk rec league team for that matter. The parity in the NHL really is apparent by the standings. Conklin played well against Chicago, but as normal, the Wings winning or losing will depend on their desire to win the game and some puck luck. Nabokov is no slouch goalie even though he has only one 5 times this season. This is a game the Wings should win, but anyone can win a single game.

I firmly believe the Wings are going to be ready to play tonight and are going to bring it against the Islanders.

I thought it was interesting that Commie filled in for Dats during the morning skate. Will the Wings be able to fly anyone in before the game tonight? If not, you would think they would go with three solid forward lines with E filling in on the fourth if needed and playing as the 7th defensemen.

I wonder what the lines will be and who will replace Datsyuk. The Wings could end up trying to rush a call up (Conner, Nyquist etc.)

This should be a game for the guys to pad their stats. Lets hope it turns out that way. Datsyuk is only about 7 points off the league lead

Well Kevin Poulin is currently on a 3 game shutout streak in the AHL soooo, every streak needs to come to an end right...
