Well I can't say I'm 100% happy with that game, but that's 16 and at the end of the day that's all that matters. It's crazy that Howard isn't the #1 Vezina candidate for this season yet, many goalies having unbelievable seasons.

Some nights you lose when you play well...some nights you win when you shouldn't.

Mad props to Jimmy, home win streak is totally based on his performance now.

I'm as big of a jimmy hater there is but I totally agree. He is playing out of his mind right now keep it up.

IIRC, it could affect future discipline. Isn't there a rule where multiple game misconducts automatically result in a suspension or something?

You're right - I hadn't thought of that. Any player who is dismissed twice for stick-infractions, boarding or checking from behind, or dismissed three times for any reason, in a single NHL regular season incurs an automatic one-match ban, and further discipline is possible for subsequent ejections. For each subsequent game misconduct penalty, the automatic suspension shall be increased by one game. Salary lost as a result of a ban is usually donated to a league-supported charity or program to assist retired players.

But really, what are the chances of Hank ever getting thrown out of another game? Would be nice to have it off his record, though.

Jimmy bails us out again. We looked less than stellar in our own zone, especially in OT. 16 in a row at home, nonetheless

As far as Zetterberg's game misconduct, I've been saying it all along, and I'll say it again, making calls based on the outcome of a play are dangerous, and this is a prime example. Zetterberg doesn't even push him, but because Nikitin violently crashes into the boards, Zetterberg must have pushed him into it. What's Zetterberg supposed to do in a situation like that, let Nikitin get the puck uncontested? Calls like this really make me question the direction the league is headed in terms of discipline. Punish the action, not the result. In this case, there was nothing whatsoever on that play that warranted any kind of penalty. Beyond a horrible call by the officials.

Ugly win to say the least, but I'll take it. Jimmy Howard is amazing. They need to have Van Halen's Top Jimmy from the 1984 album for when he makes a huge save, IMHO. Fil had a very sweet move for his shootout goal.

I'm glad Pav seems to be all right after that knee shot, but I seriously doubt Vermette was trying to hurt him. I just hope Hank doesn't have to sit any more games for the non-hit and that the Columbus player is all right.

Z had his hand on the players back. Mick and Kenny were both agreeing that it was just a bad situation, but based on the wording of the rule, Z may be suspended for a game or two at the most. In that situation, if Z doesn't want a penalty, he needs his hand OFF the player in front of him. The referee ruled it boarding, and while I don't agree with the call, I think that Z put himself in a situation where the ref had to make that call.

The Wings played average, and yet we still got the win. I am not ok with the Wings effort, but I will take the win. They are going to need to play 2x-3x better to beat St. Louis on Monday or the win streak is going to be over at 16 games.

either cleary or flip should go infront of huds. cleary does a forhand-backhand usually, remember his playoff penalty shot vs calgary a few years ago?

I don't even get my hopes up anymore when Cleary gets a breakaway. I'd put him just behind Howard and just before my grandma in a shootout.

One or two seasons ago we could score 2 shootout goals and still lose the game due to Jimmy's inability to make 1 on 1 saves. But now he's developed into an elite goaltender, there is no stopping the Wings in shootouts. I still hope Hudler never sees the shootout again, though.

If Z gets suspended then the league is clearly headed towards no-contact hockey. That was the absolute minimum contact that could have been made, what else do they really expect players to do at that point? If anything, it looked like the contact he was making was so he didn't slam dude into the boards to begin with and then they rule it the way they did. Ludicrous if you ask me.

Likely. I'd be surprised if he takes him up on the challenge, though. Hopefully he proves me wrong. If the game gets out of hand, its a sure thing Boll and Dorsett will be stirring things up.

I've always wanted to hit a game with fellow LGWers. Enjoy the game

We'll be trying to have a get together at the end of March for the games against Nashville and Florida. We already have our seats but that doesn't mean others can't get a group of seats as well.

Been home for a while from the game but finally able to come post. Was a good game. I was at the other end of the ice for the Z penalty so all I saw was the Columbus guy on the ice in pain. As soon as Z was going towards the bench I knew it had to be bad...they never showed a replay of it at the Joe so I wasn't sure what exactly took place. After seeing the replay he didn't do anything wrong, the guy was on his way into the boards at a bad angle.

I was 4th row from the ice in the corner by Jimmy for the shoot out and that gave me a whole new perspective of how the goalies play. He really comes far out of the net on those guys, made me nervous but that shows how talent they have that they leave so much open space behind them and are still able to stop that puck. Great game for Jimmy as always!

Yeah, Hudler hasn't looked too hot in shootouts lately, although Datsyuk has missed his last 3 shots as well.

I'd put Franzen in Hudler's spot. Don't know why he doesn't take shootouts more often. He has a more dangerous variety of shots.

Pavel pulled a beauty deke and hit the post on the first shootout he missed, then last game pulled his beauty move only to get robbed... so I wouldnt start worrying. But Hudler needs to be moved back in the shootout lineup he is terrible. Fil should defs be one of the 1st 3 guys... Pavs, Fil, Bert.

Aye. There's not a chance. It was not deliberate contact. And Shanahan knows from personal experience that Zetterberg is not even a physical player, let alone a reckless one.
