SI: Sidney Crosby to visit spine specialist in Calif.

I never liked this guy. He's too talented and winning comes too easy for him. He doesn't deserve it. I never liked his smug punk face. I hated the fact that he dissed hockey's post-series handshake tradition, one of the greatest traditions in all of sports, and nobody besides Red Wing fans in the NHL called him out for it. As much as I can't stand him I didn't wish the concussion thing on him. Or the NHL. The NHL is responding, finally. Perhaps Cindy Crosby will eventually find his way back on to the ice. So I can see him get drilled again!

Let's go Red Wings!

I really hope he doesn't turn into Marc Savard. I've been following his story lately, and it's very unfortunate. He wakes up every day with severe headaches, and he said this was normal since the Matt Cooke hit. His 11 year old son is now afraid to play hockey, because he doesn't want to turn out like his dad. But I hope Cindy returns to hockey, it'll be good for the sport, as much as I dislike him.

Look at this as good news. We'll finally discover if he has one or not!

Damn! Beat me to it! :hysterical:

...this just in...

Specialists say they are going to implant a spring so when someone touches him he can spring up like a jack-in-the-box and make his dives and flops even more animated. This is not to get more penalties called (although it will be an unfortunate by product (for the other team)) it will be done to draw attention to opposing players trying to stop the NHL's only superstar from having the puck and scoring. Sidney has said that his daddy told him that he is "the bestest in the world" and that he will be given everything he wants on a silver platter. But in order for that to happen, people have to stop touching him so this procedure hopes to curtail that trend. Stay tuned because the NHL cannot survive without him...

 Well played.

I'll agree with previous statements. Can't stand the guy, but his return would be good for the sport. Plus, I never want to see a player have to end his career due to injury.

Maybe they'll take x-rays to find out what people see in him.

They don't need x-rays, all they really need to do is google it.

Rocket Richard

Art Ross

Pearson

Hart

Gold Medal

Stanley Cup

He annoys the s*** out of me, but that's a HOF-worthy resume he's racked up at the age of 24.

If he never returns to the NHL, I have to wonder what he would've accomplished in the next 10 to 15 years of his career. .

Yeah.. that and a buck might get you a newspaper.

If I had a s***, he'd be the first person I'd give it to.

Walk a mile in his shoes.

It's tough hearing about what all these guys deal with day to day with concussions. Depression, migraines, light sensitivity, fatigue. Never knowing if tomorrow is going to be a good or bad day.

I doubt it'll get much sympathy here but Pronger's wife was talking about what it's like for him. Having the kids ask him when they can go back to the games and watch him play.

Crosby is done. He'll never survive even half a season with his health issues. Kronwall could drill a clean hit on him and he'd be sitting for the next 20.

I think his playing days are over. He will only have his $43.5m NHL contract and his numerous endorsement contracts for succor.

I'm with most people, it sucks that he has to deal with these symptoms every day. I get chronic migraines so I get what some of the problems are. However, if this was any other play or in the NHL, he wouldn't get nearly this much attention. I can't stand Crosby but I will be the 1st to admit that he is good for the NHL. Bottom line is, I don't give a s***. The only time I'll give a s*** is if he comes back and plays the Wings in the SCF.

Personally, I think with all this media time that's not going to Crosby, they could focus on a new young player such as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who is having a great season as a rookie straight from the draft. There are plenty of stories to follow right now. Get off Crosby and focus on the players that are able to still play the game and provide entertainment to the NHL fan base.

Danny Briere just got a concussion, wonder if we'll see any stories in print about his doctor's appointment? Like a few others have said, who gives a s*** about this guy's doctor visits?

^^^^^THIS!!!!!!!!

I think for the most part, we are sympathetic to his health issues even though we may hate him as a player. But GD, who freaking cares what he is doing outside of hockey!?!?! We don't care that he is getting his spine looked at! We don't care that he gets a head ache when he ties his shoes! He is not the first player, nor the last, to have his career ended because of a concussion! Do we hear about every other player's doctor's appointments, who have concussions, no, so I don't care to hear about Cindy's either! Sure he has won a lot in his lifetime, good for him, if he would have played as long as Gretzky, maybe we'd have a new record holder in most categories, but he won't. He won't even play as long as Lindros did. Enough about Cindy Lee Crosby and his every little bit of progress and regress, please! It's time for the NHL to market the players that are actually playing!!!! (There's a concept!) He is done, it's too bad, yes, but it's the truth, move on, please!

If he goes through all of this and makes a come back, then lets talk about what he had to do to get back. Lets talk about all the appointments he had to make in order to make himself healthy enough to become a star again. Until he is 100% healthy and comes back and starts playing hockey again, lets leave it alone, lets not have to hear about every baby step he is taking. If he makes a come back will it make for a good autobiography? Yes, and I am sure it will be a great read to hear about all the therapy and x-rays and appointments and medical advances, but until then I don't want to hear it.

I think everyone would like to see him lead a healthy life. Most folks would like to see him play in the NHL again. But in the same token, 99% of the fans outside of Pittsburgh don't want to hear about every OB/GYN appointment he has to make!

Up until Yzerman's retirement ceremony, I had no idea Vladdy was walking on his own with a walker! I though he was still getting around in a wheel chair, why? Because nobody talked about all he rehab appointments and every little crap he took that gave him a headache! The NHL went on, the Detroit Red Wings went on, then all of a sudden Vladdy was walking to center ice!

Good Luck Cindy Lee, I hope you get your health together! You and your family are set for life, don't risk your life by rushing back to the NHL. See you in a couple years or maybe never, but get well, none the less!

(there is my human side, now back to my NHL side) Hurry back so Kronner can Kronwall you into the 30th row! Then I won't have to see you dive and flop all of the ice anymore!

Walk a mile in his shoes.

I won't feel sorry for the guy until this concussion affects how he will live his life from now on.

As of right now, he is rolling in dough and able to afford trips to every single doctor that could help him with this scenario. One which if he gets over will allow him to make millions upon millions of dollars to add on to the millions upon millions of dollars he already has.

Sure it might suck, but he can help the pain with his adoration of Pittsburgh fans, Stanley Cup ring, and massive paycheck coming in every week.

One thing that I find really interesting in all this is that the Neurology wing of UPMC (in Pittsburgh) is rated one of the best in the country. So why is he going all the way to California? Unless he already went there, got news that he didn't want to hear and wants a second opinion.

So, it's all about the money? I agree with you on the big issue would be whether there will be affects on day to day life, but we don't know that at this point.

However, it would have to be extremely difficult not being able to do what you have been doing and working towards your entire life. Money isn't going to help that.

He has been given attention and adoration since he was 14. He has hardly had the hard knocks that you and I experience.

Sorry, but I don't really care if things are a little difficult for him now. He still has more freedoms and choices while concussed than anyone here does healthy.

I appreciate Crosby's doing everything he can to comeback, but he's done.

I heard on 1050 TSN radio in Toronto that Crosby got a serious concussion when he was 11. Just like Lindros, every concussion since that one is making things worse for him.
