rrasco 1,312 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 Nobody likes Matt Cooke, but I think this is what people were worried about happening with all the suspensions. People are going to start embellishing these types of plays to draw a penalty. I think the only 2 should have gone to Jackman in this case. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQICq9sYBIQ
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) Someone who is hit from behind into the boards does not have their feet flopping up behind them like that....no question he dove and not hidden very well. I'm guessing the ref didn't actually see the full play and used judgment to come up with the 2 min boarding call. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 Jackman definitely embellishes, but lets be frank: players have been diving as long as anyone can remember, and while the refs don't have the benefit of a replay, Shanahan does. It will be much more difficult to embellish a hit to get somebody suspended. 1 jfranzen reacted to this

For instance, Z got tossed from the BJs game unjustly; albeit not from a dive. There was only 10 mins left, but what if it was in the first? What if it was Datsyuk in this case? jfranzen 51 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 Would it be so uncalled for to allow the refs to have the play reviewed to see if the "offending" player should be thrown out?
MidMichSteve 1,115 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 Looks like the Blues may have learned something from the Detroit game. Nobody went after Cooke. 1 Danielsm reacted to this

Hull is God 3 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 Jackman sure went to great lengths to sell it by smashing his own face into the glass near the ledge. That's dedication! I don't think it was a dive, and was a marginal boarding penalty. Jackman just got twisted up in the hit (possibly by Cook's stick into the elbow corkscrewing him around) and unfortunately went face-first into the glass. MulesWillFly93 199 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 I'm going to go with neither. Cooke looks like he's trying his best to avoid any contact and pretty much does, and I don't think Jackman meant to go face first into the edge of the boards. I'm glad other people think this was a bad call - I couldn't believe how much the Blues announcers were whining about the hit, but I thought maybe I was just losing my mind for defending Cooke. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 Jackman is one of the most gutless hockey players in the league, he's a disgrace. Clear embellishment. 3 haroldsnepsts, esteef and MCleveland89 reacted to this

toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted January 26, 2012 Serious question for those that don't see the dive: What he doing with his legs? Your legs don't naturally flip up like that when you get hit.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted January 26, 2012 He did hit his face into the boards. It's not like that's going to feel good. But either he's embellishing or a drama queen with the legs flying up and holding his face that much, considering he looked fine not too much later when sitting on the bench. Carman 387 Report post Posted January 26, 2012 Why couldn't they both end up smashing their faces into the boards? Jackman really can't be too smart if he's trying to sell a call by torpedoing himself face first into the boards like that. Diving is always going to be a part of the game, but at least try and disguise it better geez

No s***. He flails like he was hit high, low and shot in the ankle. He did the same thing when Datsyuk hit him. He is a *****.
cnot19 191 Report post Posted January 26, 2012 Which evil do I choose?? Jackman certainly dove on that makes me sick to see diving like that, man up and look to play the puck first, not look to get a call
