Autographs while on the road

My son and I are attending his first Nhl game and Zetterberg is his favorite player. It's unlikely that we will get a chance to see them play again for a long time and we were hoping we could get some autographs. It's in Edmonton and we don't have any idea how to do this. Anyone been there or know if there is protocol you need to follow or just hope for the best.

I'd be willing to bet this is a relatively difficult task unless you were able to contact the right people (or figure out for yourself) where the visiting team enters the building and when. All players are different, though, and especially after watching NHL36 with Lidstrom, they seem like they all show up on a bus from the hotel they're staying in, so they'll likely pass through a gate that public likely won't be able to get in, and go right into the arena.

I wouldn't really condone the following, nor do I think the hotel would be willing to give you the information if they had it, but there's a very slim possibility that if you called around and found out where they were staying, you might be able to hang around their hotel several hours before the game and try to run into a few players. Like I said though, this is kind of stalker-ish, but it might score you an autograph or two if you're okay with that.

This is all my guesswork though, because I've never done anything of the sort. I used to be able to hang around with my dad when I was younger after games and the players would drive out of the private JLA parking lot and some would stop and sign some autographs for the fans, but I don't think they really let people hang around like that anymore. The only way you're really guaranteed to get autographs is if you have some sort of connection somehow.

Let us know how it ends up working out!

Yeah, you could always be stalkerish and track them down at the hotel. I can tell you after watching NHL36 Lidstrom goes for a stroll around town near the hotel before every game, so maybe you could catch him then. But personally, I would just feel weird tracking the guys down and interrupting their routine.
