Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted February 9, 2012 Cleary DETROIT -- Detroit Red Wings forward Danny Cleary will be out for a few games, coach Mike Babcock said, after he received an injection in his sore left knee.Cleary left Wednesday's 4-2 win over Edmonton after the second period, after his knee, which has been bothering him for a few weeks, flared up. Babcock said Cleary's absence will allow Jan Mursak to play. Mursak has appeared in only three games since returning last month from a fractured ankle. Get well soon Danny, but a great oppertunity for Mursak.
T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted February 9, 2012 Hopefully Cleary will get the R&R he's been (k)needing this season. He's lost some jump with that bad peg most of the season. Let it heel while giving the youngins some ice time. 2 55fan and Motown4013 reacted to this
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted February 9, 2012 Strangely enough I thought it looked like he was flying out there against Edmonton, before he got hit into the door. Oh well a week is not too bad and we'll be fine without him, looking forward to seeing Mursak. 1 hooon reacted to this
PrairieDawg 52 Report post Posted February 9, 2012 We're a lucky team to have someone as good as Mursak riding the tar and able to sub in for an injury. I'm really surprised he hasn't been in more recently, when hes on the ice you can easily notice it because he seems to be flying everywhere causing havoc on the forecheck. St. Michael (the Red Wing) 422 Report post Posted February 9, 2012 Mursak with a great chance now. Looking forward to this and Cleary is only out a week not too bad
wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted February 9, 2012 It was only a matter of time before Cleary had to get this done, so it's probably a good idea he does it now rather than latter. Good to see that Mursak will get some ice time
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted February 9, 2012 cleary is awful this year...not a huge loss. 5th in TOI for forwards with over 16 minutes a game. Plays on the PK and the PP and isn't afraid to go anywhere on the ice. 6th on the team with 11 goals. 8th on the team with 27 points and is a +12. He was on pace for about his usual 40 points. People may be unhappy with his play, but anytime you lose a guy who plays 16 minutes a night in all situations and get you 40 points, it's a significant loss. Hopefully he gets the knee drained and comes back healthy. 7 Rebound, GoWings1905, hooon and 3 others reacted to this

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted February 10, 2012 Cleary is out again? Shocker. And you doing nothing else in this forum but bagging on him is not shocking either, so why should we take you seriously? And spare us any "I told you he was injury prone" or "I knew I'd be right all along" or "Cleary lovers" type responses. 1 Rebound reacted to this

GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted February 10, 2012 All you're doing is pointing out that all my points are valid about him. I've never seen that guy complete a healthy season. We've had this discussion before among your endless anti-Cleary posts, but have you ever considered the type of game Cleary plays might be a factor to his health? Many people here like to give Cleary crap about not being a top-six forward (which I agree with mostly; he's not ideally), but he's a perfect role player and that requires killing penalties and going into tough areas of the ice which isn't easy physically. Sure, Cleary doesn't have great hands nor is he the best skater, but does he ever take a night off? You can't just find players that have a work ethic like Cleary's to match a very respectable and valuable skill set to a team. Just for the record, Cleary has never played fewer than 63 games since joining the Red Wings. I guess taking a puck in the face or a shot off the ankle is a player's fault though. When he plays you just rip him anyways, so this week or so off should be a relief for you. 1 55fan reacted to this
newfy 695 Report post Posted February 10, 2012 So now Emmerton centers the fourth line, Abdelkader goes with Helm and Miller and Mursak plays wing on the fourth line? Once Cleary went down and Abby was moved up that line loooked pretty good together

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted February 10, 2012 (edited) All you're doing is pointing out that all my points are valid about him. I've never seen that guy complete a healthy season. Nice try. You make it sound like your point is a brand new intervention. Got news for you, it isn't so you can stop stroking your own ego. I already knew that was probably going to be your point before it even came out of your keystrokes, and people here already understand that he's had injuries sometimes. However you also proved my point that... You are only involved in Cleary talk here It's always in an over the top negative fashion (critiquing people, no problem which is what most in here do and are fine with, you are not doing that) that makes you sound like an a**, never recognizing his good qualities. If you think his cons outweight the goods, that's fine, but contrary to your popular belief, he isn't garbage or injured constantly that makes him overly ineffective. You are making this injury a bigger deal than it is when he'll likely be back on the ice fairly soon. Given your over-the-top obsession for the guy, even when he's doing good...I'll ask for the last time, why should we take anything you say about him seriously?
