kylee 727 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 Think about an early replacement for Stuart... If Brad Stuart really does want to go back to Northern California the he should definitively say so in order for us to trade him to a California team without losing him for nothing. 2probert4 8 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 huge replacement? worth a 1st round pick?? jesus at this point id much rather have gotten kubina for a 2nd and 4th , hes gonna be in the 3rd pairing and hes making 3 million a yr along with ericsson , thats 6 million total for our 3rd pairing , thats crazyyy And yes i do expect kindl gone with brendan smith up next year but theres no way in hell kindl will fetch a 1st round pick , we'll be lucky to get a 3rd for kindl i dont usually disagree with kenny but this is a disaster of a deal , much rather have given up the 1st for like selanne as a rental or someone of that type Ducks are 5 points or less out of the 8 spot.... Selanne isnt going anywhere. This pick will be between 25-30 in what's considered a weak draft, and Quincey will replace Hudler on the point for the 2nd PP unit... May be something else in the works also....

Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 I actually like this move. Quincey knows the Wings' system, he is young, and he has some offense in him. I like him on the blueline over Commodore. I remember being impressed with him when he stepped into the lineup during the 07 playoffs. The Wings would have traded that 1st round pick at the draft for 2 3rd rounders anyways. Hahah. Yzerman also looks like a genius basically trading Downie for a 1st rounder. Not bad. 1 wingfanatic4alltime reacted to this

The Secret 304 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 not sold on this trade. hope to be wrong I don't like the sound of this much either. I had nothing against him while he was here but this seems like alot to pay for a 5/6 D-man. 1 Rebound reacted to this
luvmnger 125 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 YEA! after all my yammering...i finally got one right! i called quincey as a great option! now lets get fleishmann and i can officially acquire the 12 pack of cup stickers for the back of my truck window! Hockey13Playa 240 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 Giving up a first rounder is somewhat over payment for Quincey but we have a lot of young prospects in the works on the verge of coming up to the NHL level anyways. Also its a very late pick in the first round (25th - 30th) so its not that bad. I think its a decent trade, I think there might have been better options but I am alright with this. Now I just hope we aren't done dealing!!!!
wingfanatic4alltime 32 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 I love this deal. I always liked Quincey when he was here, and also lets be honest we would not have seen that draft pick for 4-5 years. I would be more upset if it was a top 5 pick and we traded it for Quincey. But its only going to be a 27 to 30th pick and prospect are no guarntee. I bet this move is also an insurance policy incase we lose Stewie in the offseason. GO WINGS! 1 Jersey Wing reacted to this
2probert4 8 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 pierre mcguire just said detroit has alot of travis moens and cant see them going for him but rather a skilled forward .... ya well thats where the 1st rounder would of come in handy , dont see it happening now and he also said detroit was in for rick nash bigtime and really liked him but dropped out when the demands got ridiculously high .... thank god Detroit's PP is between 15-20 ? They are looking to improve that PK, which Moen is good for that. He's injured right now, so who knows if he's moved. McGuire is in the know maybe a step above Eklund... Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) likes/knows quincey hahaha that makes me laugh liked him so much they put him on waivers for derek meech ... good move He was put on waivers because Meech constantly outplayed him. Were you watching hockey back then, or did you completely miss that Quincey did not at all attract attention whereas Meech played very well in 2008 and 2009? Yeesh. Also--yes, grammar--it's "should have," not "should of." haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 this trade just screams meh. Agreed. It's unfortunate Detroit had to give up a first round pick for a mistake they made a few years ago and because of the disappointing play of their first round pick in Kindl. 3 Matt, Rebound and GoWings1905 reacted to this

Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 21, 2012 Some of you need to stop screaming like this is the end of the world. I guess in a way it's ironic; people are getting all up in arms about an iffy trade because they have almost never--if at all--had to experience an iffy trade of any sort during Holland's tenure as GM. Typical spoilage. 2 55fan and LeftWinger reacted to this

GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) I guess I don't really like or dislike this trade. It's just kinda meh. At first glance, I thought the first round pick was definitely way too steep for Quincey, but after reading through the comments, others have made strong points here about the pick being quite low anyways. I do agree this seems to a be pre-cursor to another move at the deadline, likely involving Kindl. His play hasn't been too sharp for awhile now so the reasonable explanation would be the Red Wings keep dressing him to showcase him for a trade. I still hope the Red Wings can swing a deal for a Moen/Gaustad type player to help improve the PK. The price and availability for a top-six forward seems completely unlikely for Holland to pull the trigger at this point. I think the worst part part of the trade for me is this signals Stuart is almost assuredly leaving this summer. Quincey is a decent enough d-man, but he isn't Brad Stuart. I really don't think Quincey even brings similar attributes to the team, so the speculation he's going to fill Stuart's role puzzles me a bit. Ericsson plays more like Stuart than Quincey does. Depth on defense is never a bad thing to have. I trust Ken Holland to have made the right decision in a move like this. Just hope this isn't the one and only deal he makes in the next six days.
