Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 25, 2012 Here is a thread to dump rumors from random tweets. Example : NHLSourcessay tweeted that the Wings are talking to the Sabers. Most likely for Paul... I just wish it was for a top six sniper, and they have a couple of those. 1 Hockey13Playa reacted to this
Jeff6851 168 Report post Posted February 26, 2012 @NHLSourcessay Detroit liked Hemsky but now with him locked up they have talked with the Sabres, one of Roy, Pominville and Stafford could be moving (cont) (cont.) Detroit have the cap space and have expressed interest in the 3 sabres, something to look for heading closer to the deadline.

Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 26, 2012 I don't think Gaustad is a big improvement over Emmerton or Mursak. He is a penalty kill specialist and a tough guy. WE have plenty of PK guys, and I really don't think a fighter helps. Besides Abs, E, and Bert are enough for that. I doubt Pominville gets moved, but the Wings would love to get him. Anyone else think that if Gaustad and Pominville come over, it will cost us Tatar, Miller, Emmerton and another prospect? NHLSources tweets that Nashville has made an offer for Nash. You don't know Gaustad.. at all. He isn't a tough guy, he's a tough player. As for not a big improvement over Emmerton? Gaustad (56 GP 7G 10A -1 70 PIM 98hits 56.8faceoff pct 10 in the league) is much better then Emmerton (52GP 6G 3A +4 10PIM 28hits 42.6faceoff pct good enough to not even get on the list f faceoff leaders in the NHL ) Especially for a 4th line player who's job is to create energy. You say we have plenty of PK guys, sure, but not very good ones judging on the results this year. Plus, outside of Abby and Kronwall we have no good shot blockers, Gaustad would be such an improvement in so many areas and people try to discredit him because he fights, which is foolish because Abdelkader has more fights then him this year. If we could get a package of Gaustad+Stafford/Pominville and not pay too crazy a price we'd be untouchable. 2 number9 and EuroWing reacted to this
GMRwings1983 8,788 Report post Posted February 26, 2012 Gaustad would indeed make our bottom lines tougher to play against in the playoffs. He's also bigger than any of our bottom 6 forwards. It'd be nice if Holland could fleece Kassian out of Buffalo, for the future. He's could be a pretty good power forward somewhere down the line. I just don't think Buffalo would move him. Yeah, it would cost us something like that kindl, Emmerton, Tatar or Sheehan, and maybe a different roster player, and a pick like a 2nd. I just remember the Sabres loving Sheehan and Jarnkrok at the draft. Wings wont give up Jarnkrok though. If they asked for kindl, Sheehan, emmerton and a 2nd for pominville and gaustad or something close, I would do it. even if kenny slightly overpays its no big deal our window is this year, its our best chance, and if he slightly overpays, it won't destroy our future. He could always work out a deal behind the scenes where he trades on of those players back to the sabres in the offseason... EastonWings 2 Report post Posted February 26, 2012 (edited) I'd like it better if we snag vanek. Were lacking that sniper on dats line since hossa left. Roy is a little small we have to many small forwards as it is. Edited February 26, 2012 by EastonWings

I just don't think Buffalo would move him. Came here to post this. He's quickly become my favorite Sabre, with Cody McCormick coming in a close 2nd place. Cycles the puck down low very well, and hits anything that moves.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 Interesting NHLsourcessay I think this is a pretty spot on reporter, and he says the Wings are interested in Roy, Pominville, and Stafford. Not Gaustad. I put Stafford and Pominville in my shrewd moves list. 2 rage and Bar Down reacted to this
