I thought it was a good period. We controlled play at even strength and showed some heart on the power play. Or PK sucks and the refs are dictating play, but I thought we looked good.

If I'm not mistaken, hits are "determined" and recorded in the scoresheet by someone of the home team's choosing (or perhaps a local member of the press, like the 3 stars), so it's not too surprising to see a vastly overblown stat like that.
