Red Kingdom 4 Report post Posted March 10, 2012 If I was the coach of that team, I would have been embarrassed enough over the actions of a parent of my player, I would have forfeited the game. I would have just called the game and gone home, never to have that parent at a game again. The goalie would have got my sincerest apologies and the laser pointer guy would have got a serious ass-whoopin'. That game should've been forfeited immediately by the school athletic association, without even a second thought. Sounds like they like the way the game turned out. The teams, coaches, schools, and league should have been able to figure out a way to remedy this problem, fairly, without bringing the law into it. I know there's a temptation to ticket every dips*** who does something borderline harmful and most definitely stupid. But I have a sneaking suspicion that mostly the reason we're happy to see this guy get hit with a charge is because he's obnoxious, not because he's a threat to public safety. Anyway, redo the third period of the game or whatever, but it would probably have been enough to let the guy go home in shame, with both teams and their fans knowing that his dumb ass is the reason for the whole ordeal. I'd even consider disqualifying the winning team so some other parent doesn't try it. Meh. If I choked I'd say my vision was still bad. I bet the board did their due diligence and saw the laser pointer was a domestic version. And criminal charges? Really? If it was a blood boiling laser yah, but a rinky dink run of the mill laser pointer? Come on now. It was an assault by a grown man on a high school girl. Her sight could possibly be damaged...even by the run of the mill laser pointers that everyone has. The league shouldn't have to deal with that. Then again, if that goalie was my daughter, I don't think the police would be needed. Probably an ambulance, though.
