Some news and notes from the Wings' twitter feed. Nyquist is called up from GR, and it seems that now Zetterberg is missing from practice. Hopefully Z only has the day off. Also, Jimmy and Nick skated prior to the practice.

*Update* The Red Wings have now recalled Joakim Andersson from GR, as Abdelkader is a game time decision with the flu.

Ok. Sounds like Z was simply given a day off from practice, per Dana Wakiji. Lidstrom, Bertuzzi, and Datsyuk still expected to be out. Interestingly enough, he didn't say if Howard was in or out...

#RedWings Babcock on Fri's game: No Nick. No Pav. No Bert. Z's in. No E obviously. No Kindl. Lots of names. It's Nyquist for Conner.

The way Mlive makes it sound, Pavel, Nick and Bert should be ready to go Tuesday in LA for the West Coast trip. Nice to hear only 2 more games to go hopefully we can win one of two at least. Go Wings!

Id prefer to see him in the top 6 (Franzen, Helm, Nyquist?) - but at least he should get decent ice time with this line. I hope he gets a fair shake to play his game. Pav and Z had to get their start somewhere - I think hes shown hes ready.

Good, more young talented legs to pull around Rosebud... I mean Cleary. Hopefully he'll see some powerplay time and plenty of ice. Nyquist can't be worse than Jiri 'Another SH Breakaway?!' Hudler on the PP.

The last two games the 2nd and 3rd lines are had similar ice time numbers. Further, it will probably be good for Nyquist to play with Abby in case the game gets rough.

Then we lucked out because we saw him last night here in Texas, playing the Austin Stars. he didn't score but he looked great. Great speed, hustle and commitment.

With how beat up the wings are that line will probably end up playing pretty good minutes. Babcock usually plays rookies a little less in their first games while they adapt. Good chance for Nyquist to show if hes good enough to play in the playoffs for this team or not.

He does man the point on the PP with the griffins quite a bit

Yeah you will. Conner's back down. Then there's Brunnstrom, Tatar, Ferraro, Pare, etc. It was great fun watching all of them. They came alive in the 3rd (sound familiar?) and scored four goals to tie it. Conklin was in net and did well until the OT. THAT one was on him.
