What do you guys have to say about Filpulla now?

I stopped posting here awhile back, probably a couple years ago or so. Just wanted to stop in and let anyone who wanted to trade Filppula a couple years ago know how stupid they are. I can't even describe how many topics/posts on hating Filppula there was and how many intense arguments I engaged in regarding him. That kid has always shown such great potential but was just one little step off from making alot of great plays we would have remembered for along time. He use to never get the power play time or chance to play with the skill players he needed to complete him. Now look at him.. Who knows how good this kid could be for us for years to come. Yeah I'm sure Joe average all you guys wanted to dump him for would have paid off real good today hey?

I also wanted to chip in on some other garbage I noticed in my 5 minutes of browsing the forums.. You guys are seriously dogging Franzen? Do you guys even watch other games besides the Wings? You do know unless you sacrifice all your depth, defense, goal-tending you just can't have four 80 point players now days? Look how good that has worked out for teams. Franzen is our 3rd/4th forward, and he is a very good one. Bottom line, enough said, that's a fact. Look it up. What do you expect Crosby and Ovechkin to fill out 3rd and 4th forward position? Get real you none appreciative clowns.

Oh our team this year isn't Stanly Cup caliber?? How so? Because we lost a few games past couple weeks? You do realize we are one of the top teams in the league and have been all season right? We don't have as much talent you say?? Hmm weird, we have pretty much the same players as we had last Stanley cup final appearance.. Except for all of our depth is even better today than it was then. All of our bottom forwards, Kronwall is playing like a top defensemen in the entire league. Get real guys and appreciate this great team we have. Not good enough for ya I'm sure ya can go find a better franchise than Detroit to follow. Wait, there isn't one.

Now is the time to trade him while his value is good.I'd trade him even up for Chris Neil or Parros and it would be the easiest decision I'd make all year.

Yeah because dumping players and making trades is how we became the most consistent and respected franchise in the league for over two decades. That's definitely our style. Making risky trades parting with proven system molded players. We'll just up and ship him and his family away because hes playing good and is worth every bit of his contract, doing exactly what we want him to do. Good logic buddy!!!

With a mind set like that you could go be a GM for Colorado

Because they were to stupid to see his potential and allow him to develop. Jeff if your way of viewing this is so smart, why didn't Holland go ahead and trade him like almost all of LGW wished? Because they seen what the very few of us on this board are capable of seeing. You know, the very few who actually played hockey and know things about hockey?

It just pisses me off how much people around here try to preach when they don't know s***. If you don't know s***, allow yourself to learn from the people who do by keeping your mouth shut and listening for once.

Sorry I made a spelling error. I wasn't informed that I was participating in an online spelling b. I guess if I was you and had no comeback I would probably have to make a pathetic attack. I'm sure you triumph my bachelors degree and probably make 7 figures too hey? Let's keep this about discussing hockey alright? I have to be professional all day at work, I don't need that s*** here. <----- God, I am really going to contradict myself in this thread...... Oh well, I'm the f***ing man

Well, it'd be a pretty boring forum if all we did was slap each other on the back and toast every move made by Holland and Babcock.

But anyways... You're awesome! Cheers!!

Thank you for that last part, I completely agree.

I see your point; although, s*** gets pretty stupid around here. Like to the point that most guys with much of a brain eventually just leave. It would be nice to discuss legit hockey, not spend 10 hours filtering through the endless retardedness that fills the forums on a daily basis. You can pretty much create an argument for any angle you approach things. But I keep it real and only attack from the correct angle, which is why I am so great.

Also, I mean if you want to see it the way you mentioned. Than this is the topic your looking for right? Because I am spicing things up around here and will be talking alot of s*** for the course of this thread. Well, for atleast tomorrow then I'll probably throw in the towel on this war.

Goodnight guys. I'll be back tomorrow to fully consume your pathetic responses and destroy you through a computer screen. It's all good fun though

See, you started well talking about Flip, but then veered OT talking about Franzen and lost everyone.....yes, you are correct he is our 3rd/4th forward in terms of skill/points. In terms of effort he is more like 12th/13th. If he put in half as much effort as Dats/Flip/Helm etc he would be an all-star.

And enough with the "my opinion is more valid than yours because I play hockey" BS. My wife used to go out with a professional hockey player, a former 1st round draft pick, and he was as thick as pig-s***.

The dude may be a bit of a bad spelling, short fused, grumpy assed beeyatch, but he brings up all good points. Frikin Teemu Selanne has been gushing over what an extraordinary talent Filp is and how hard he plays, but LGW complains about the guy all the time. And people forget that Franzen was drafted as a checker and blossomed into the Mule that carries the load when it matters most, at a bagain of a price. Cleary's playing his heart out on one peg, but there are posts saying he's lazy and he sucks and we should trade the guy. Yeah, the f***in guy that dropped the gloves with Pronger and held his own. The game 7 guy. Get rid of the guy

It does seem like a lot of LGW fans can't understand why the Wings can't score at will, like they don't realize there is an actual opposing team (with all higher draft picks) out there trying to win the game also.

And instead of debating the meat of the issue, replies tend to nick pick the little things like one too many L's and too few P's in Filppula, when frikin Bab's can't even pronounce it correctly (Filapula)

But still, for us out-of-towners, it seems the best place to go for all things Wings. Long Live LGW. Go Wings.

Exactly. Most of us complain about Franzen because we know he's talented enough to produce much more. If he really wanted to, he could be an elite player in the regular season as well. Instead he tends to float for long stretches and looks bored. Even tonight, he didn't do much until the end of the third period when things got interesting.

Based on past history though, I'm sure he'll win us over in the playoffs.

Trump? And if you're going to brag about your education, it might be worthwhile to put the apostrophe in "bachelor's degree". And the cents don't count as part of the seven figures. Besides, who actually says stuff like that?

It's sad that this country's in a state where its self-proclaimed professionals have so little humility and intelligence left. Then again, you do seem to share a lot of the same qualities as most investment bankers.

Yes, and yes.

When Franzen finally scores these days, it seems all too easy; "effortless" because it was without effort. He floats like Lang used to and pots gimmes after Datsyuk or other harder working players do most of the work. It was a good play to Helm last night, which got plenty of Franzen backers saying "look look" but all that proves is that he can make those plays falling outta bed. No one is doubting his skill, but his effort is not there. For me, that's a character flaw that needs to be rectified; everyone is expected to show up, whether you say you're bored or not. In my opinion (that's for you, OP) Franzen will be judged statistically on goals and, just like every other player on this team, intangibly on effort. The effort isn't there, and his goal totals since signing his contract are pretty lame. Leading the team doesn't count for much when its only 25 through 68 games, and that's all you really do. Cleary had 26 goals in 68 games last year. Franzen's potential is MUCH greater, but being the teams leading goalscorer is becoming less and less of an accomplishment ("in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king").

TO THE OP: Lording education and salary on a hockey forum is moronic. Entitlement at its worst, but thanks for your credentials: Bachelor's Degree recipient, overpaid, self-aggrandizing, whiny, confrontational, and has played hockey. Way to go! That ought to get you into at least the 45th percentile!

Filppula is playing up to the potential that I truly believe the majority (albeit not overwhelming) of folks on LGW thought he had in him. Hate to break it to the OP, but you are not some oracle for defending a guy who most people enjoy watching play. Most trade talk had Filppula as a legitimate top-end outgoing asset to acquire another top-end asset, which is how trades work (not "Hudler and a 2nd for Nash"). I'm happy to have him and never thought he was being "paid on potential" like some people did, simply because he has always given 100% effort, played strong defensively, and made his linemates better. Statistics were then and are now, a bonus. He has been worth $3m since he signed and has since surpassed it. He is finally cashing in on the scoresheet, and the play last night was a great display of the poise and confidence he is playing with. Keep up the good work, Filppula!

Pretty much everybody has been giving Flipper his kudos this year.

And Franzen himself has stated he sometimes gets bored with the regular season. And the hard work and hustle he had to eventually move into a top-line role permanently ebbs and flows sometimes, so while I'm glad he's on the team, I understand people's frustrations with him.

Not really all that good of an I told you so post. The Captain Hindsight picture pretty much says it better than anybody else will in here.

Now is the time to trade him while his value is good.I'd trade him even up for Chris Neil or Parros and it would be the easiest decision I'd make all year.

Have fun trying to convince the majority in here on this.

If that hard-on lasts for more than 4 hours, I believe they reccomend seeking professional treatment. I'm sure your hangover will last longer, though.

Make sure to stop by in a few more years to pat yourself on the back some more. We alway have a shortage of that here.

I agree with the OP that the negativity around here is frequently overboard...

However, when you're going to start saying that a group of people know nothing and that they're ignorant about a certain player, it would behoove you to actually spell the player's name correctly.

At least it was good for a laugh though.
