Blashill needs to fix the PP or else he needs to be out of here. Its his job and hes not doing it.
I think Babs and co. screwed up in hiring 2 assistant coaches w/o any NHL experience, that's got to be affecting us negatively on some level

A loss is a loss, tough one though..thought we played pretty good for most of the night. With this depleted lineup its hard to hide some of these guys who are playing terrible (Hudler and Cleary)
Cleary has an excuse. Bad knee and the cortisone injections and draining is not helping. Hudler is just a drain. Period. I cannot watch him anymore without bellowing at an inanimate object.
"He even ate with women who at that time were accorded the same status as the family donkey. Are we willing to break bread with, say, child sex slaves, transgender teens and undocumented workers? Because when Jesus comes back to Earth, that's where he'll be hanging."
You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.

If this is what life without Lidstrom is gonna be like I'm scared. I don't want a defense that barely hangs in there most nights. I want a shut down defense. We don't have one now with Lidstrom, but without, it looks like the defense get compromised quite a bit. We have had good goaltending this year to make the defense better than I really think it is.
sadly I agree, Howard and MacDonald have both had to be exceptional on many nights due to numerous breakdowns in coverage and odd-man rushes against

The number of gift-wrapped opportunities he blew tonight were innumerable. Great play by Flip and Z only to get to that nincompoop. Its an uphill battle with him on that line every night, but tonight we really needed him to get the hell out of the way.Cleary has an excuse. Bad knee and the cortisone injections and draining is not helping. Hudler is just a drain. Period. I cannot watch him anymore without bellowing at an inanimate object.

The Wings' defense functions like some kind of hive mind; without proximity to the collective intelligence (Lidstrom) everyone gets dumber and less organized.
I'm thinking (hoping) that Lidstrom can see how much this team needs him so there'll be no question about his coming back next year.
He'll be beck.
Yeah. We'll go with that.

Its not all the knee. He was bad early on this season as well. The knee is just a convenient excuse. If its effecting him that much he needs to be in the press box. That would help the team more than him being on the ice does.

I understand that... but playing at a rival on a back to back... also we played without Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Bertuzzi, Ericsson, Howard, Kindl (and Eaves)... It was going to be really tough to win this game, I'm just glad they brought effort and didn't lay an egg
Good teams win anywhere and regardless of who's in or out.

The powerplay has to get fixed though -- it's getting beyond pathetic now. Even before Datsyuk and Lidstrom got hurt, it was pretty dismal and it has just continued to decline. You could definitely argue that special teams have made the difference between a number of wins and losses recently. The Red Wings have kept the games close even with so many injuries, but the special teams struggles have played a huge factor in losing by a goal instead of winning by one.
Hopefully some healthy bodies get back on Tuesday, namely the big three. Plenty of time to win the division still.

Here they come. Told you guys that Wings would fall behind both st louis and nashville. How does a 5th seed sound? Keep playing this way and it will be a reality....if not 6th.
The Red Wings are still four points up on Nashville and ten on Chicago. No way they fall to 6th -- that's an extreme exaggeration.
Granted, I do believe the upcoming road trip out west will have a huge influence on the Red Wings shot to win the division. If they get some of the major pieces back soon, I still like their chances to catch St. Louis. Even if the Blues hang on, a first round matchup with the Predators wouldn't be a nightmare scenario.

It is a nice theory but far from realistic.

All the negs are way too funny! It reality, don't neg me, neg the Wings. Even with Datsyuk, Bertuzzi and Lidstrom the PP and PK stunk. Something should have been addressed. Franzen is not returning from his mediocrity. I hate being right, but Franzen has been invisible, Hudler has stunk a lot. These are things you cannot deny, you just neg because someone is telling you what you are starting to realize. I told you all summer and all year thus far. Enduring negs, slander and name calling, yet they never seem to prove me wrong. You can mark these words, Detroit will be no higher than the #5 seed come playoffs. Lets see if you are man enough to debate it...
edit: Didn't figure anyone would be man enough to debate. Don't be too upset when your son grow's up to be just like you....and you know what you are.
I didn't personally neg you, but I am curious as to why you are so convinced the Red Wings are doomed to fail? They were ahead of the Blues basically all season with a healthy lineup. If Datsyuk, Lidstrom and Howard all get back around Tuesday, there's still 13 games to go to make up four points. If you are so convinced the Predators will easily catch the Red Wings by that same margin, then it isn't impossible for a healthy Wings team to do the same.
Again, I will also state 4th or even 5th wouldn't mean an automatic first round exit. If San Jose gets in as the 7th or 8th seed, I would rather deal with Nashville than the Sharks again.
