Wing Across The Pond

The reason The Wings shipped Mike Commodore

The Miller salesman that comes into my work used to play hockey at Western. A couple of weeks ago he told me that the Wings sent Ken Holland, Jimmy D, Chelios, Draper, and more a while back to one of his games. Anyways, Ken Holland apparently had told him that the Wings would like Dan to stay in college for another year. Now that this report has come out that he will stay another year at Western, I wonder if that means he has secretly decided to join the Wings in the future.

Also, I realize that this does sound unreliable coming from me, but if anyone can remember, I did report that the Wings signed Jason Williams on this forum before it was out on the press. (A lot of good he did us)

I remember that, something about you seeing Holland at a baseball game and he told you? A select few ripped on you for about a week until the signing was announced then they all shut up.

I could see this being true. Dekeyser takes one more year in the NCAA, Kindl, Ericcson and Smith battle it out and see who needs to stay. Move one of them and bring in Dekeyser after this season

I'm happy he decided to stay another year in college. The problem with these youngsters is the drive to play in the NHL right away, when they fail to understand the concept of development. If you honestly think this guy could just come into the NHL and be successful, well congrats, but it most likely wouldn't be that way. The development process of the Red Wings organization doesn't get mimic'ed because it doesn't work.... it's because it makes sense. We're talking a young college D-man who would be prone to make numerous turn overs and bad plays while changing to the pace. The NHL is filled with players at his level, and well beyond his level... the CCHA is not. It would be a joke, and honestly I would be pissed if his parents were talking him into going the easier route and signing with a team that would ALLOW him up that early. Sign with an organization that knows what their doing, earn your spot in the lineup, and trust me, you'll be a better player down the road. His time with the organization and development with the Griffins, would only make him better.

slowly but surely the Wings are stacking up on top skilled D-men, ready for when Lids hangs em up.

Smith,Xavier Ouellet,Ryan Sproul,Nick Jensen and lets not forget Alexei Marchenko who is my tip to be the real

steal of last years draft. Then theres the 2 Swede's in Almqvist and Backman who are panning out better than where

they were drafted. Plenty of potential skill for the blueline here im sure youll agree. Well what about some steal and grit to go with these skilled guys when Stuy and Kronner are no longer about?

Young Lashoff in GR is starting to get looked at more as a shut down guy, then theres the raw talent of the big Czech Richard Nedomlel who put up some big numbers in his sphomore season with the Bronco's, yet the Wings drafted him mainly for his toughness and size, at 6'4" and 227lb at 18 and getting bigger, maybe we have another rough diamond in the making! Not sure where young Max Nicastro is at present, so i cant really comment on him until all is resolved with his situation. Although some have said he isnt progressing as expected.

So DeKeyser is going back to college, which i feel is the right choice by him, if he has indicated to Ken that he wants to join the Wings org. Which isnt beyond the realms of fact, so if true then the Wings look pretty well stocked up on all aspects of the D for years to come.

Agreed. Just ask Fabian Brunnstom.

Good memory. It's just speculation on my part that he could be committing to the Wings by staying another year at Western, but I do know for fact that they did ask him to stay there. It makes sense that Ken Holland would want that. We do have a history of keeping our players ripe and transitioning them into the NHL slowly. However, the appeal to play in the NHL might be too much to resist. He could begin making tons of money now and that itself could lure him to any other team.

Some here wear very thick rosy-Red Wings glasses, and being critical of our beloved team will get ya a neg each, and every time.

There is a big difference between being critical and being a negative Nancy/Debbie downer with nothing positive to ever contribute. We have too many members who belittle everyone on the team, call the coaching staff crap, and really just take a giant dump on the team. These are the same people who, when the team wins the cup, will claim all along they are behind the team all along. Look at the Dallas Drake signing for instance. When he signed with the Wings, a vast majority of people on these forums really took a giant dump on him and Ken Holland. After the Wings won the cup, everyone was all about backing Dallas Drake and the excellent signing by Holland.

Maybe you should just drop the whole neg thing and let it go. You are the only person who cares about it, like its some kind of currency or something. This is a Wings message board. Maybe you should just talk about hockey instead of your strange obsession with the +/- buttons that serve no function.

People might actually stop negging you too, just a thought.

+/- is always a misleading statistic <_<
