Call the team out

So Smith caused one. Who caused all the rest? The usual suspects.

And the forwards up front producing brutal giveaways which lead to an odd man rush the other way have nothing to do with it? Perhaps you need to start looking at more than just the stat sheet. You know...an actual game is being played.

Hudler is the worst 20-goal scorer in the league. I would take literally any player that currently has 20+ goals over him.

You might as well call someone Hitler. Given your s/n and avatar coupled with your comments, it gives you zero credibility.

While Hudler frustrates me from time to time, the fact that you can't see his assets makes your contentions meaningless.

Babcock needs to find a way to light a fire. Franzen can't hit the broadside of a barn if it was 6 inches in front of him, Happy turn-over Hudler makes better tape to tape passes to the opponent.

Is it just a coincidence that you call out the two players that managed to score in our last game?

Imo people are making too much of this current slump. Yes SLUMP. That's what it is, not some major problems with the team. We got a few injuries and either because of that or because the planets have aligned, the team is in a bad stretch.

But if it wasn't for St.Louis complete refusal to lose any game, we'd still be very close to the Conference lead.

We just gotta realize we are in a SICK division this year. The Blues, Preds, Wings and Hawks are probably 4 of the top 10 or even 8 teams in the league. And the Blues especially are looking unstoppable.

This bad stretch wouldn't be so terrible a normal year, but now it hurts because the other teams in our division are almost never losing.

So you don't agree with the fact that this team even when there no injuries has looked very uninspired this season and parts of last as well? I do. Even with Dats and Lidstrom out of the line up this team should be able to at the very least compete night in and night out. A slump to me is even when your playing good you can't buy a win or have no puck luck. This team is not in a slump because when they try for 60 min they win.

I do agree with you 100% about this division as it is insane.

Obviously the most important injuries to this team are Dats and Lidstrom but to say they are the only injuries that matter is crazy. It's a domino affect. Franzen for instance has not only had to play with 1 new line mate but 2. Injuries change the line combos and the ice time that some of these guys are forced to play. White has looked terrible and should have a better ability to adjust to a new partner but it is difficult to go from playing with argurably the best d man ever to someone new. It is also so much harder to hide struggling guys in the lineup somewhere when you have injuries and they are forced to play. It's the dog days of the season, we are struggling but if you need a cheer up try channelling 07-08..it is a very similar feeling. Things turned out ok that year.

I could careless if they scored or not; 99% of Franzens shots miss the net by a country mile. "Franzen shoots! Wide high off the glass"

Same with Hudler, for every good pass he makes he commits 3 turnovers.

IMO, this is not a SLUMP. They just aren't lucky enough to be winning like they had been. We have been playing lackluster with flashes of brilliance for 2 seasons now.

I strongly disagree with your assessment. They were the best team in the league pretty much until Pasha and Nick got hurt. Losing Pasha caused an already lazy Franzen to look about 10 times worse. We lost that entire line that provided much of our offence and offence zone time. Because of that Hank and Fil have become our top line and thus the other teams have been able to focus solely on them. Despite that, they have still been outstanding, but they simply have no support without Pasha.

Bert did not look very good last night but that was expected because his timing was off- - he even alluded to that before the game. Franzen is the one player, along with Cleary, that has been pissing me off all year... I really wish we would have kept Hossa. Nonethless, this team has been amongst the best in the league for the majority of the season when healthy. When we get pasha back, we will have much more offence and an ability to dominate the puck possession game and he will help our powerplay with gaining the zone, faceoffs, moving the puck and getting pucks to net. When we get Nick back it will provide much more stability to the point on the powerplay and an effortless but amazing defence game.

If you honestly think this team is bad then you do not know hockey. This is a successful team and when they get their 2 big boys back they will dominate the rest of the season. I have no doubt in my mind.

Yea because 45-50 win seasons are clearly based on flashes of brilliance and luck..are you serious?

the Wings must be the luckiest team ever to win 44 out of 71 games (61.97% win percentage). I can think of 12 other teams in the Western Conference that wish they were so "lucky" and had as many "flashes of brilliance[.]" Also, pretty lucky to win 23 games at home in a row which makes them luckier than any team in the history of the NHL. Have they won some games that they shouldn't have? Yeah sure, however, they have also lost some games that they should have won. That is the way hockey and every other sport goes. Yes the Wings are in a slump, due somewhat to injuries (including one to the guy that NHL players ranked as the 2nd best player in the league and one of the top 2 or 3 best defensemen ever to play) and due somewhat to bad play, lethargy, etc. But most teams have slumps, most teams have bad games and bad streaks. It doesn't mean that the wins they had are "lucky" or "flashes of brilliance[,]" on the whole the Wings are too good and win to many games for that to be the case.

Our road record surely proves we are a force to be reckoned with. When we were on our home streak I will agree we were playing with more passion.

I'm sorry but some of you here have the blinders on and need to step out and realize that not all things Red Wings is completely out of this world amazing. If that were the case we wouldn't be sliding down the standings, we would actually be converting on our PP and we could kill a penalty or two before letting in a shorty.

Neg me all you want because I am sure it's coming because I am speaking out but seriously some of you need to open your eyes and realize we need to start doing something different. Our players are clearly getting tone deaf.

This is what happens when a team is small and plays big. They get hurt and can't play to their potential. This is not a player integrity issue, this is not a coaching issue. This is a GM issue. Kenny has been good, but he has been very lucky too. Kenny has jumped the shark!

Couple of things:

1) Were the players getting tone deaf when they lost 6 in a row earlier this season? Because they managed to do pretty well after that slump.

2) If you are going to be using our record to try to show that the Wings are not a force to be reckoned with why don't you also use their home record to show that they are a force to be reckoned with, or even their over all record - they are after all 4th in the entire NHL in points. The vast majority of teams in the NHL would love to have the Wings record and would dread playing them in the 1st round of the playoff (because they are in fact a force to be reckoned with).

3) I don't have blinders on and think that "all things Red Wings[are] completely out of this world amazing[,]" however, I do think they are as good as any team in the NHL and have a legitimate shot to go deep into the playoffs. Perhaps you need to take off your blinders and realize that the sky is not falling and the Wings are in fact still a good team who are battling major player losses and playing poorly during this slump.

4) The fact that we are "sliding down in the standings" yet still have the 4th best record in the NHL is a testament to the fact that the team (when even reasonably healthy) is a very good team.

Finally, it is funny to me that the Wings players "clearly getting tone deaf" amazingly coincided with Dats, Lids, Jimmy and 4 or 5 other players all getting hurt.

We are so ******* spolied as Wings fans....how many of you were around fo the Dead Wings era?

We are slumping, big deal, we are still contending for a cup just like the previous 20+ years!!!

If your feeling sorry for yourself as a present day wings fan go waste a little time watching vids of the wings before you were born!

Get used to it if you plan on sticking around. This s*** pops up after the Wings win games, after a game like last night, we must be doomed!

Haha, Oh you didn't know that unless we win the cup every single year the entire team, including coach and GM are worthless and need to be replaced by overpriced free agents and unproven AHL prospects? Yeah...me either. Which isn't to say that there aren't ways to improve ANY team in the league, but that those decisions become a hell of a lot easier to make in hindsight.

All to familiar:) Here in Fl the Bolts fans and media have already turned on Stevie for not having Tampa Bay headed to the finals this year. But I will add their not as blood thirsty as the Wings nation and certianly not as many potential GM's blogging and calling into sports radio:)

First of all let me thank you for being my high school English teacher in doing a nice job correcting my grammar.

Second of all, when did I say the sky was falling? I'm not saying anything near that. What I am saying is that people need to stop being so blind to some of the continuing problems that have been occurring with this team. Everyone sees Holland as the second coming of Christ that does no wrong. Everyone seems to think that we can steam roll any team we are put in front of. I suppose that is why we have had early exits two years in a row now?

The sky isn't falling. Do I see us winning the cup? Not like this we aren't, the way we are playing currently screams of early exit, especially if we get stuck playing on the road.

The team needs to wake up. Players like Franzen need to wake up. We as Wings fans have been incredibly spoiled with our success but it has also led to the fans being completely oblivious to thinking we could ever have any issues.

Who does this? You are being awfully general while still indicting every member on this board. Some people may think Holland can do no wrong. Most people acknowledge that he does a damn good job, and that managing a team to the Stanley Cup is probably pretty difficult, and therefore we cut him some ******* slack when he fails to do that thing we (as individual fans) really wanted him to do. Could the team be better? Probably. Is it as easy to make those decisions as you or I might think? Probably not.
