He's my second favorite player behind Dats...such a bummer. Doesn't look good, I'd be shocked if he was back for the start of the playoffs.

Jesus this is ridiculous ... given how youthful and versatile Helm seems to be I cant help but think hes torn something up in his knee. If its just a shredded meniscus he might just have to get it scoped/shaved and could be back in a few weeks (in a perfect world). If its a torn ligament ... well, cya next summer kid. Abdelkader and Miller are going to have to step up their roles as energy players - and lets hope to gods that Lidstrom and Ericsson (yes, I said it) are back asap. Apparently E is progressing very well - with Lids bruise its a weird injury have had a few myself ... hell basically wake up one day and be good enough to play though the pain from the bruise will persist for months. Bruised my shin doing kickboxing last summer and couldn't even kick a bag with that leg for a good 4-6 weeks.

If you look at the replay of his injury very carefully you can see that the knee doesn't bend awkwardly like other ACL/MCL injuries. ACL injuries can spotted just by placing your hand on your good knee and comparing it to the bad one. I don't believe he has a tear in his knee based on the replay. I think he will be back in 2-3 weeks at the max.

I don't know why, but that really cracked me up. Posted Image

But on a serious note, I hope Helm is back by the playoffs, not that it will really matter.

I was thinking the same thing....possibly a really severe hyperextension.

I hope this is nothing serious and he's back quickly.

Helm would be a major loss, especially in the playoffs when he elevates his game even more.
I think a reasonable replacement would be Connors, who's nearly as fast, and works equally hard.

He hasn't called to let me know how the MRI went

Wish we could hear something soon and I really hope it's nothing more than him needing some ice and rest to get back.

this makes me sad. I am going to my first game in 11 years at the Joe on March 30, and was really looking forward to seeing Helm play. Get well soon, kiddo.

Playoffs start april 11th.? So that gives a bet case senario (4weeks) that helm is ready for about half way through our first series depending on how long it goes. Hmmm

Is there a kickstarter campaign for Jakub Kindl to never play another NHL game?

Wow, could be as late as the first of May. :scared: Hope he doesn't push it and try to come back too soon and cause further injury. His speed is his greatest asset.

From now on, Patrick Roy will be rolled out to and from the Avs' bench like Hannibal Lecter. - BottleOfSmoke

Awesome. Just what this team needed.

Get well soon Helm. Hopefully the season isn't over by the time you get healthy.

Devastating, but take a pass on the rest of the year and rehab the knee please. Can't afford anything less than 100%.
