So the Preds just won and are back in 4th by a point over us. Hawks/Wild are in OT. Here's hoping Hawks lose in OT, Preds lose their final game and we win on Saturday. Seems like a hell of a lot to ask for. Ugh.

If the 'Hawks lose here in OT then we are guaranteed either 4th or 5th but 4th would only be possible with a NSH loss on Saturday. I'd rather see the 'Hawks win here.

A more likely scenario: Chicago wins tonight. Nashville wins their final game. We lose to Chicago and we end up in 6th. Seriously.

How does that change anything for us?

They beat Nashville, we beat Chicago. 4th seed.

Yeah. I hate it when you have to cheer for other teams to do your work for you.

You would think the Hawks know this and would try to lose. The chances of them getting 4th is like next to nil.

But if the Hawks lose in OT and win against us on Saturday we'd be tied in points and wouldn't they have the tie breaker over us?

Believe it or not, they have even less ROW wins than us. But that's irrelevant now because they just lost.

So I guess I can't be excited for the off-season?!?! We'll have a lot of cap space and hopefully sign some talent. I'm not a fair weather fan either. I've been watching this team since 1995 when I first figured out what hockey was. It is my favorite sport to watch, no matter who is playing. I watch NHL games every night and it's fair to say, this year's Detroit Red Wings team is in trouble for the playoffs. When is the last time you've seen the powerplay ranked so low? When is the last time you've seen our penalty kill ranked so low? NEVER! The last two times Detroit has won the cup, they also won the President's Trophy. How close did we come this year to winning the President's Trophy?!?! Every game we win is by a single goal, except for the rare games against Columbus. This is not your typical Red Wings team. Management has been a little soft lately and won't man up and cut players that don't deserve to be wearing the Winged Wheel. We have become a harbor for players to s*** players to live out their dwindling NHL career. That is why I am excited for the off-season, so we can hopefully cut ties with some of our baggage and sign some talent.

Chicago couldn't keep the puck on their sticks in the SO. Disgrace to the sport.

Well, your Sat is now stress free ... nothing can change the order now.

Not true.

Can someone here clarify what the second tiebreaker is? Chicago is two points behind the Red Wings now with one fewer ROW and I see people saying the Red Wings can finish no worse than 5th regardless. Couldn't the Blackhawks win on Saturday and tie in both categories still?

So if we lose to the Hawks in regulation on Saturday then we'd be tied in points and tied in ROW so what would be the tie breaker after that? Over all wins, series match up?

The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs.

That's what I was saying.

Guest hudler sucks

Chicago takes 5th with a ROW on Saturday. ROWs would be tied and Head to Head record is the next tiebreaker (Chicago already has the season series).

Okay so correct me if I am wrong but,

Hawks have 99 points right now with the shootout loss. They sit in 6th. Wings just need a point on Saturday against them to AT LEAST be in 5th and Two points and a Pred's loss to get 4th?
