I believe I have figured it out...

If wings and preds win (or wings OT/SO loss) saturday, we play NSH first round and they have home ice.

If wings win and preds lose in regulation, we play them first round but we have home ice

If wings lose in regulation, we play the winner of LA/SJ game on Saturday.

Right?

Phoenix wins the Pacific division with wins in their last two games (at STL, at MIN).

Wings (6) v Phoenix (3): If Wings lose and Phoenix wins both of their games.

I'm not sure who will have the tiebreakers between LA, Phoenix, and San Jose, it will depend on whether their games go to SO or not.

LoL anyone but Phoenix. Getting old playing them in the first round. I'd like to play San Jose, because I feel we'd mop the floor with them. Of course history suggests otherwise, but it's just a feeling I have!

You are off on some of this. If the Wings game simply goes to overtime, Chicago will be in 6th and Detroit will have fifth.

Nashville takes 4th if they get one point, regardless of what the Wings do because of ROW.

We need home ice. That'll be the great equalizer (hopefully) in the 1st round. I don't like the idea of starting on the road vs Quick or Smith. Then there's the San Jose factor and we haven't exactly been great in there building in the post season. Just beat Chicago and hope to god the Avs help us out for just this once

No. San Jose does not have a great goalie. Niemi has a .915 save percentage which is 24th is the league. I would love to see the Wings bounce San Jose in the first round.

Correct. If we beat Chicago (regulation, OT or Shootout) they finish 6th and play the 3rd seed. If we lose to Chicago, (in regulation) they finish 5th and play Nashville and we finish 6th and play the 3rd seed.

The most likely scenario is that Nashville beats Colorado and we beat Chicago. We then play Nashville and Nashville has home ice. IMO this is the worst case scenario but unfortunately the most likely.

For all the naysayers, the 4th and 5th seeds have changed 4 times in 2 weeks.

Before we played Nashville, we were 4th.

Afterwards, they were 4th.

2 days later, we were 4th,

after last night, they are 4th.

Lets go Avs!!!

Best chance of winning = We get our s*** together and we can beat anyone

This sucks, but it’s my prediction.

The final central standings:

1 - St. Louis
2 - Nashville
3 - Chicago
4 - Detroit
5 - Columbus.



If this happens, I dare say it would look like the lack of high first rounders may finally be catching up with Detroit.

Personally I don't mind what seed we get, as long as we play some good hockey. If we did play the Sharks, I think it would be a huge boost to get past San Jose and give them some confidence that may excel us into the further rounds.
