Trade Zets /Dats and Franzen

Or they should tank it for a decade and pile up top picks like the Caps, Pens and Hawks.

No.

They have a solid group of veteran players such as 2 out of 3 in the title of this thread that they can build around if they play their cards right.

The team is deeply flawed. We're going to get better by trading one of our two best players, the only two players who've consistently shown up all series?

Did you learn nothing from the untimely death of Whitney Houston? Crack is wack, yo.

You know what else they could do? Move the team somewhere nice and warm, cause we all know that's the best way to get on the leagues good side. The refs will be able to work on their tans, and will then be in a better mood for the game, leading to fewer wings penalties.

Can't trade the best NHL player out there on Dats. Zetterberg played most of this past season hurt and no one knew it till later in the season. Franzen I agree with, its sad when he says he dosen't like to play in the regular season because its "too boring", but then he hasn't shown up the past 2 years for the playoffs. I do belive we DO need to get younger NOW. After watching this past season and the 4 playoff games, we are really slow on defense and ofense (besides Helm).

Datsyuk-Z-Franzen on one line

Filpulla-Hudler-Parise on the other.

Done.

Nothing wrong with Z and Dats. Lids should either take a pay cut or retire(I'd prefer him take a pay cut), he is hurting the team getting 6 million or so a year when it could be used towards a guy like Parise or Suter or both. I would love to trade Franzen, I hate him so much(i'm talking crosby hate). Homer needs to retire. Let Hudler go sign somewhere else, I swear they will resign him after the playoffs though.

This maybe the dumbest thing I have ever seen posted. Perhaps we should trade away everyone and even our entire prospect pool, I mean s*** if we are going to blow it up lets legit start from scratch.

Franzen sure, but you want to get rid of Z who has been the only player worth a s***, and Datsyuk who up until 3 months ago was argued as the best player in the league.

Yes this team sucks, but you do something like that for one you put yourself in a whole you will probably never dig yourself out of, and pretty much destroy any rep. this team has..

NOW this is overreacting

That's it! Do an entire roster swap with the Blue Jackets!!! I think it's clear at this point that the straw that actually stirred the Wings drink was one Brett Lebda.

(/sarcasm for anyone with a broken detector)

SPEED, SPEED and more SPEED!

Behind defense and goaltending, SPEED is the next most important asset in today's game.

All you have to do is look at the teams who are winning in the west..... excellent goaltending and defense with many young fast skaters.... LA, St. Louis, Nashville and Phoenix.

Wings have FOUR players on their team who are anything but young and fast..... FOUR is way too many... Franzen, Homer, Hudler and Bertuzzi. You may be able to get away with One or two slow or older skaters with less energy .... but if you can not roll line after line with energy and speed you will not survive..... plain and simple.

You need SIXTY minutes of energy and speed.... 40 minutes is no good.

Secondly, and this goes along with the speed, is the ability to kill penalties. The SAME slow skaters do not kill penalties. IMHO, if you do not have 10 skaters on the ice who are capable of killing penalties you are going to cause fatigue, injuries and exhaustion to your top players.

Datsyuk and Zetterberg have done yeoman's work. They are simply spending too much time killing penalties and should spend more of their ice time playing at even strength. It only makes common sense.

You don't trade Datsyuk and Zetterberg..... you dump Hudler and Homer to start and then you send Franzen and Bertuzzi for off-season speed skating and training because you know they won't be traded away.

Letting Stuart go and using Smith will also increase speed on defense.

Third, give more ice time to the speedsters..... put them up on line 1 and 2. Z, Filppula and Hudler were something like a MINUS 23 on the road early in the season.... and that has returned... and yet Babcock has kept that line together. This year Babcock has had the least line shuffling compared to any other year.... it was done only out of necessity when someone was injured.... that is a sign of a coach getting into a very stale pattern. Datsyuk with Helm, Abby or Miller on his line would have been interesting to see. Helm, Abby or Miller could have also been paired with Zetterberg. Filppula could have centered the third line..... separating your scorers so that 3 lines would have some scorers.

The top two lines, IMHO, were the worst top two lines the Wings have had in 18 years..... and it wasn't because of Datsyuk and Zetterberg but it was because of Bertuzzi, Franzen, Hudler and Filppula. If the Wings are depending on Filppula to lead them to a championship it will be a long wait.... he is a third line center at best.

It is time for some big changes. This team has grown stale, complacent, and comfortable. There are too many players who don't produce to their talent level, too many guys who take time off, too many guys trying to play through injuries and end up hurting the team, too many players of similar style (like Eaves and Miller being called "redundant" last summer), and there's no price to be paid for underachievement. When is the last time Holland traded away a regular player? (Top 7-8 forward, top 4-5 D, starting goalie.) Kozlov in 2001? I don't really remember anyone since then... this team is ripe for change, objective fans know it, Babcock seems to know it, but Holland will keep the band together for as long as he can.

Trade Zets, maybe a good time.

Dats, no fricking way.

Franzen, who would take him?

You don't even consider getting rid of Z or Dats.

Franzen would go to a team that doesn't get the luxury of pretty being slotted in the playoffs at the start of the season. He'd have to work at might actually get his 40

Even though the OP is prolly trollin, I can see his/her point. It is so very frustrating to see the Wings seemingly give a lackluster showing in this series. What can shake the boys up for the next 3 games? I say hire 2 players form the old Avs rivalry to post a video on the youtubes. Have Claude and Patty reenact the Monty Pytho scene...."I fart in your general direction, you wipers of other people's bottoms." That'll fire em up.....lol.

Not so fast, guys. There is merit to this.

We could trade them to Florida and get Kopecky back.

So, that's all 3 for Kopecky, straight up? Which side has to throw in the obligatory bag of practice pucks? It's not a true internet forum trade unless somebody is giving up a bag of pucks or a roll of stick tape.

Is it any way possible to get Iginla while using Franzen as trade bait. Iggy is still a beast and he wants out of calgary. He is big, tough scores tons of points and is soooo hungry to be on a cup contending team. He is such an all around force.
