Apparently Gillis is denying this via Vancouver radio.

EDIT*****
So, theres a big misunderstanding on this quote. Luo said he would be willing to waive his NTC IFFFFFFFFF the organization had asked him to do so. There was no requesting a trade, nor is there one in place. This is simply speculation and simply Luo saying "if the organization feels they would be better without me, i'm willing to be moved." He's not demanding, or requesting to be traded.

Does anyone think Luongo can be considered elite anymore? Good save percentage and all, but has the tendency to let in real stinkers and seems to get rattled kind of easily. Granted, he was in Vancouver, but does his play really warrant the absurd contract? Is anyone going to want to take the biggest goaltending contract in the league for a guy who wasn't even deemed the best goaltender on his team?

It will be interesting to see which desperate team makes a pitch. I for one would sooner jump off the Mackinac Bridge than invite him here.

This situation feels kind of similar to the one back in '95 when Patrick Roy wanted out of Montreal. His play was going downhill, the fans were on his back all the time, it was suggested that Roy was past his prime and he was only going to get worse as time went on. Then Roy got traded to another contender and he was a monster again. Obviously the situation is a little different with the big contract and salary cap, but I would see Luongo going somewhere else and being a beast again.

Per James Duthie on TSN, "sources" say that Luongo will submit a list of teams to the Canucks that he would be willing to accept a trade to.

https://twitter.com/#!/tsnjamesduthie/status/195354773736800256

Sources say Roberto Luongo will submit a short list of teams he'd waive his no-trade to go to next week. Toronto will be on it

So, while he may not have officially asked for a trade, it seems that he might not oppose one were it to come up.

That said, I've edited the topic title, since alot of this is coming from outside sources.

Mike Gillis has been very busy saying that he spent too much time dealing with Cody Hodgson; thus, a major distraction to him in trying to run the Canucks.
He's got to blame somebody/anybody for the collapse.
As of now, Dean Lombardi>Mike Gillis. Whowouldathunk it?

Devils lose Parise, Brodeur retires, open enough cap space to bring in Luongo. This would make the most sense imo.

You've got to figure that Schneider gets in the $1.6-2.4M range - at least that would be my guess.

If Scott Gomex can yield Ryan McDonaugh in a trade I'm going out on a limb and saying Luongo can yield Nail Yakupov....ok, I'm kidding

I'm thinking Gomex is a typo? (i'm certainly no ratial slur cop but he did grow up in Alaska, not Mexico.)

I'd imagine Schneid's will get mire like $2.5 ish.

Very busy? Has he said more than the one liner when pushed for details at the presser, the one comment about "spending more time on Hodgson's issues than the rest of the team combined", and that was it?

Who has another bad contract on their team that would need a good (not great) goalie?

Think for yourself. Question authority. Throughout human history as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are or where we are going in this ocean of chance, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself.

He wants out. He hasn't said it, at least not publicly, but the guy wants out.

This is spiralling faster than Gillis can keep up with. This is turning into a real bad situation for him as GM. Maybe trying to save his job before meeting with ownership and/or increase leverage in finding a trade for Luongo.

If Schneider gets 2.4M he better fire his agent.

Yeah I could see the Devils making a pitch at Luongo. They like awful contracts in New Jersey too :P

Tampa would be a good fit young team with a great scoring machine named Stamkos, less fan and media pressure some sort of a freshstart.

Toronto would really be the overkill their GM is a big blowhard, the media attention is through the roof and being a pylon is not an option there. So I really hope he wont end up with Toronto they are not a good fit for an aging goalie.

Well last year Bobby Loo played 25 games in the playoffs but this year he played 2 games... So that's an improvement right?

Last I read, the two teams he was allegedly interested in going to were Toronto and Tampa Bay (family still lives in Florida, I guess).

I was thinking this until Marty said he wanted to come back next year.
