#7 Washington Capitals vs. #1 New York Rangers

Another great game by King Henrik and his Rangers in front of him, and what a way to end one of the best series in a while... it was so evenly matched and had such great goaltending. My only complaint about this game is I find it downright retarded that the Rangers 3rd goal did not count because of that stupid intent to blow the whistle rule. IMO you either blow the whistle or you don't. The puck was visable the entire time so I have no idea what the ref was thinking other then knowing the nhl would want it to remain a 1 goal game. With that said, they need to get rid of that intent to blow the whistle crap.

I think the Rangers will win the Cup because the King looks unbeatable and looks like he WANTS the Cup more anyone. It will be nice if they win the Cup which if they do they would be the 4th original 6 team to win the cup in the last 5 years.

go rangers !

Has any team ever had to go through 4 rounds of game 7's?

nope. farthest I found is 1987 Flyers with 26 games (out of 28 possible) to capture the cup:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1987_Stanley_Cup_playoffs

this is the list of all Game 7 in SCF:

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/13410909/

if you look in Wikipedia for the brackets starting with 1987 (first Game 7 of SCF to happen in 4 round playoff format)

then there's no one with a team going all 28 games distance. Philly comes closest, followed by 2001 and 2003 Devils

(24 games each time)

Philly never won the Cup in 87. The Oilers did.

right, but the original question was:

Has any team ever had to go through 4 rounds of game 7's?

not about who won the cup after 28 playoff games played. this makes Philly legit leader in this length category.

When I read the first line, it implies winning the Cup. Not which team was the closest. It is which team was the closest to winning 4 7 game series' while WINNING THE CUP. Since the Flyers did NOT win the Cup in 1987, then they are not the closest. It should be the team which has played the most 7 game series' which has actually won the Cup. While Philly almost pulled it off, at the end of the day they LOST in the SCF to Edmonton.
