What if Ken Holland sticks to his word and retires with Lids? That could be really bad... or just fine. I think Nill or Yzerman would do just fine as replacements.

This from Darren Dreger
Sure sounds like Lidstrom is retiring. Holland won't confirm. Says Lidstrom has earned the right to make his announcement tomorrow.
You know that feeling when you know for certain that the next day will not be as good as the previous one?

Yeah, that.

I feel sick to my stomach.

I had a feeling Nick was done, but you never wanted to see the day actually arrive.

Thanks TeeMan

Khan is pretty convinced that it's a retirement announcement. The Captain isn't the kind of guy to drum up a bunch of attention to say he is coming back.

So is Holland retiring tomorrow also?

i may not be a red wings fan,but i am getting a sad feeling about the possibility of nick lidstrom retiring tomorrow, not only could the wings be losing their captain and best defenseman, but this leauge could be losing one of the best defenceman to play the game of hockey, nobody will be able to top the style of nick lidstrom

That's what he's said all along right? Either way, I think it will be time to say the hell with worksite dress codes & pull on the #5 sweater tomorrow.

Former teammate and defensive man for the Wings, so I'll trust this.

Makes me sick to my stomach to think if Nick goes out tommorow, it'll be just like Yzerman. After a 1st round exit, heartbreaking. Sure will be weird without #5 next year if that's the case, god bless Nick and I really hope it's not goodbye yet.

At least he didn't announce it on a Friday and COMPLETELY ruin the weekend. Such a class act.

Well s***. The end of an era for sure.

Now I really wish Holland had made a big run at it this year, even if it meant mortgaging the future a bit.
