Calder Cup G3, Norfolk v. Toronto:

Thank you for the link. What a fluke shot!.

I grew up in Norfolk with the old Virginia Red Wings in the AHL (yes, a Detroit farm team). It failed some years later and was followed by a series of more minor league teams such as the Sharks. It is good to see Norfolk back in the AHL and doing well.

This is why you play a 7 game series. The better team always comes out on top. When you lose by a fluke goal like this, you still have other chances to come back and win games. That being said, Norfolk played better in games 1 and 2 from the highlights that I saw. Toronto can't expect to not play their best hockey in games 1 and 2 and expect to win the cup. Just my opinion.

Everything is going right for the Admirals this year. I live in the area and there's been a decent buzz about the team. We don't have any pro teams in the area so the minor league teams make headlines around here.

AHL released a statement saying the goal shouldn't have counted, but the by-laws say they can't change the outcome of the game.

Didn't even notice the offside the first time I watched it, then they came out and said the goal shouldn't of counted. Watched it again and saw the offside.

Talk about a bad break, and a s***TY way to lose a game. I think that goal is the one that officially broke the donkey's back. Talk about adding salt in the wound too with that offsides call. Ouch.

Marlies Head Coach Dallas Eakins on Twitter:

Never forget that @theahl is a developmental league for the referees as well. Players and coaches have made mistakes. We all move on.
