Why no Parise? I know this is a fantasy because you have Abdelkader centering the 3rd ine over Helm and Flip over Mule, so why not have Parise AND Semin on either side of Dats? You have the money since you didn't sign any of our UFAs.

I hope Suter will settle in Detroit for $6 mil, since the Preds and every other team will be offering him more.

Why Brad Boyes? He had a bad season and you have him making $3.5 million. Is that your cheap role-player pick-up?

Where is Quincey? The Wings have stated that they want to keep all their RFAs. If you let him go what did you get for him? Boyes?

Finally, you have almost $8 million left, why didn't you sign Hudler for $4.5 over Boyes and get the guranteed 20+ goals that Boyes would struggle to produce? I know we all hate Hudler here, but sometimes he is the better option. A better question would be why didn't you sign a veteran (Iginla, Doan, etc) to come in as a role player WITH leadership for about $4 million?

I know that this entire thread is theorhetical and al lot of things have to line up for the my or the OPs post to occur.

Putting Semin @ 5.25 isn't realistic unless its a long term contract which Semin clearly hasn't earned yet. 6 million would be the lowest I could see him signing for. Same goes for Sutter, but he would be worth the investment. 6 million per must means he'd be a Wing for life. Boyes = Gomez LOL.. No thanks..

What happened to Bert?

Love the 4th line BTW.

I traded him to the Leafs for future considerations. I considered it and decided that he's better off in Toronto with Burke than in Detroit with Babs.

I just don't see us getting Parise, I think he's staying in Jersey (even with their finacial situation)...

It's not about who is better Helm or Abdelkader (Helm is obviosly better), it's who fits best on which line. Abdelkader would fit better on the 3rd line with two other big bodies and Helm would be better suited on the 4th line with the energy guys with both lines seeing around the same amount of ice time, Babcock loves his energy guys...As for Flippula over Franzen, I would pick Fil over the Mule any day of the week but once again it's about who fits better on which line. Fil and Pav feeding Semin the puck, and Hank and Nyquist feeding the Mule...

And yes I have a hell of a lot of money left over but I wouldn't spend to the cap if I were Kenny, because the cap is going to drop right back down after this season, so why would you want to be in the same situation the Hawks were in two years ago right after winning the cup, having no choice but to ship off players in all directions...

Brad Boyes is a good player, just had an incredibly terrible year, like most of the Sabres. With a change of scenery and playing a smaller role he can return to his 60-70 points per year...

Hudler is never the better option, we have our top 6 set and he doesn't fit into the bottom 6. The guy is terrible... slow, soft, and easily intimidated...

If I thought we could get either Iginla or Doan I would pick either of them over Boyes. Whether you think it is or not, I believe this is a real possibility for the upcoming season.

No thanks..

Semin is in for a huge paycut if he wants a chance to win unless he's prepared to head back to Russia to play in the KHL, which he very well may do...

Boyes = Gomez.... where that logic comes from, I have no idea... Boyes could be a good fit on our 3rd line.

I really like this roster but I think you over payed on mostly all of the players you signed or resigned...

I would consider paying Helm $2.000m but I think $1.250m - $1.500m is around what he will (should) get.

I think it's also a slight over payment for Abby as well.

I wouldn't want to pay anymore than $7.000m - $7.500m for Parise but I would consider it for such a talent.

I think Moen is about right, but not the number one guy I would want.

I would love to have Prust but for no more than $1.125m... $2.000m is a huge over payment for him in my opinion.

No way I would sign Suter to $8.000m... I would rather sign Carle, Garrison or Wideman for $2.000m - 3.000m less and have money to spend elsewhere.

I think Quincey is about right.

And I think Harding is about right and I would love to have him back-up Howard but I think he's going to be looking for a starting job (possibly with Tampa)

I thought for sure this was a bluesadams thread. I feel like we have so manyyyyy of these threads and they ALL are the pretty much the same thing. Maybe swapping a player or two.

Anyways I don't know about Semin, he will want to much and is known for being lazy. It would be intriguing to see him play with Datsyuk but not sure if that outweighs his known laziness.

Semin will want a lot but I'm not so sure he will get it. I've heard it said and agree that the Wings are in the best position to take a gamble on him, it's the "safest" place for him to land. I wouldn't be surprised if he were to sign a one year deal with us for "cheap" like 6m if we happened to miss out on Parise let's say.

I think the conservative estimate for Suter has to be 7 Million. Anything under that I think is fantasy.

Semin isn't going to be on this team unless he gives up on the money. I would consider him to be be where you recoup the money, because he might not be worth more than Franzen in the Wings mind. I get the feeling he could go somewhere for a cup and sign a cheap deal and bail for the KHL at any point to get real money.

I think you have Helm and Abs way underpaid. I expect they could get that money... but then it would be short term. I have a feeling they both will get long term contracts in excess of two million.

Schultz will also get way more than what you are giving him. I expect him to get at least first round entry money. I would up that at least one million. There is no way Holland isn't signing Quincey short of Kyle having dellusions of grandure. You have to factor that in.

Your roster doesn't seem doable, or at least not likely.

I also don't think it takes into account what the rumor mill indicates as the big targets for Holland.

I am going to put this out there.

Suter and Parise are 1A and 1B.

Those fail, then I would see some of these guys show up.

I feel the defense, failing Suter is going to include Garrison. I think he gets signed before Schultz in that event. Schultz's agent has said he wants a 1-way spot ensured. I don't think the Wings do that unless they are desperate. He just sounds to me to be more of a risk at a large contract with a spot ensured, than the Wings like to take. So to recap I expect Garrison then Wideman, likely before Schultz.

Parise, if they miss on him then they will kick the tires on Semin, but they won't pay him. Boyes and Hudler is the backup plan there. Moen also plays in to this discussion.

I actually think they go harder at Zach than Ryan because I feel they are more desperate at goalscorer than D. That is, that they can fix by committee.

Worst case scenario on Defense is they bring in Wideman, Garrison, and Quincey and let Smith work his way in, and look for a trade later to fix the other problems by moving defensive depth.

I really am starting to believe that the Wings will trade for Parise's rights, sign him long term, hunt down Suter on July 1st and sign him long term (8-10 years each) and for some reason I think we may see Semin here for about $5M...I could be wrong, he is not on my fantasy roster, but I have a strange feeling...He is Holland's type of player, and I really don't think he is that lazy...think about that, your top 2 lines would be:

Franzen - Datsyuk - Semin

Nyquist - Zetterberg - Parise

follow that up with:

Bertuzzi - Filppula - Cleary

Eaves - Helm - Abby

(does anyone know of or heard if Eaves is going to be healthy?)

That leaves Miller/Emmerton/Mursak to make the last two spots, maybe 1 of them will be involved in the trade for Parise. Plus if Holland gets a hold of Moen...this forward group looks pretty good to say the least...

We just lost Lidstrom and Stuart, I think that makes them pretty desperate at D too! I think that they are going ALL OUT for BOTH and I really hope they land them...not just one, BOTH...Holland can do it! Do it Holland! DO IT!

I am going with my fantasy roster until they are not available anymore:

FORWARDS

Zach Parise ($8.000m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m)

Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Bobby Ryan ($5.100m)

Danny DeKeyser ($0.825m) /

GOALTENDERS

Jimmy Howard ($2.250m)

Al Montoya ($1.000m)

SALARY CAP: $70,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $67,070,833; BONUSES: $37,500

CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $3,229,167

There are always back-up plans....obvious one Semin in for Parise or if Ryan doesn't find his way here in a trade. Parise AND Semin would be nice...but then again, if Ryan isn't traded for, then I will have to put Franzen back in...like I said, this is my roster until they are not available anymore...

EDIT: I know Dekeyser is going back to Western this fall, but I don't like Kindl in there, so I put Danny in.

Funny...my dream roster also does not include Franzen, or Francine as you call him. I prefer "The Floater". Either way, I think he'd make a good Washington Capital.

DeKeyser would make a nice addition next summer and he'll be playing with McKee this year. Sounds like a nice pairing.

I would like to see Suter and Garrison signed.

Parise-Datsyuk-Nyquist

Filppula-Zetterberg-Franzen

Cleary-Helm-Bertuzzi

Eaves-Abdelkader-Prust

Miller, Mursak

Suter-Kronwall

Quincey-White

Smith-Ericsson

Kindl

Howard-Montoya

I have to see this kid Brunner play before I pencil him in the line-up. Maybe he beats out Mursak in camp.

Didn't you watch the WC where he had 7 points in 7 games? Babcock likes him a lot and he's got the skills to be a top 6 guy and is a desperately needed right handed shot. As much as we love our prospects to be 26 before they get a shot, I think it's time to cut that trend and award spots to the best available player.

So looking at my proposed line-up, which of the top 6 forwards do you replace with Brunner? Which of the bottom 6 forwards? He will get a shot at making the team in Training Camp. If the team was so certain he would be on the team then why would they sign him to a 2 way contract?
